Hartford, Conn. - First-year C Alex Rodriguez (South Windsor, Conn.) went 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, two doubles, and a walk to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 18-5 victory over the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University in baseball action this afternoon.  Trinity, which has scored 35 runs in its last two games, improves to 5-4 while the Warriors drop to 6-3 with their first loss in three games. 

Trinity broke open a 2-2 game with nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Rodriguez drove home senior DH Jake Bennett (Norwell, Mass.) for the go-ahead run in the fourth with an RBI double, and Bennett added a two-run double later in the inning. The debut of Trinity's Murren Family Field/DiBenedetto Stadium came five days early, as today's was moved to Hartford from Eastern Connecticut due to unplayable field conditions in Willimantic. 

Eastern Connecticut got three runs back in the top of the fifth frame, highlighted by an RBI double by sophomore 1B Alex Parkos (Meriden, Conn.), but Trinity scored seven times over the next three innings including four runs in the seventh on run-scoring singles by junior 2B Cooper Mooney (Southbury, Conn.) and Rodriguez, three walks, a hit batsman, and a Warrior fielding error.  Trinity had trailed, 2-0, entering its second turn at bat, as Parkos drove in a run in the top of the first inning with a two-out single and the Warriors scored in the second on a double play with a runner on third.  Trinity tied it at 2-2 on an RBI grounder by Bennett in the second inning and an RBI double by sophomore 1B John Stamatis (Ridgefield, Conn.) in the third.

Stamatis, Bennett, Mooney, and junior co-captain OF Brendan Pierce (Hingham, Mass.) each had two hits for Trinity, while both Bennett and Stamatis had three RBI, and Bennett also scored three times.  Trinity stole five bases , including two by Pierce, and sophomore lefty Erik Mohl (Milton, Mass.) improved to 2-1 with two innings of relief.  Parkos, junior 3B Colin Russell (Sandwich, Mass.), and junior 1B D.J. Scavone (Auburn, Mass.) had two hits apiece for the Warriors.  Sophomore reliever Cole Ogorzalek (Portland, Conn..) took the loss on the hill, allowing five runs, three earned, and four hits and recording just two outs in the Bantam fourth.  The teams combined to use 13 pitchers.
