Keystone Sweeps CSAC Twin Bill From Marywood

La Plume, Pa. – Keystone College swept a in a Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader from visiting Marywood University on Thursday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.  The Giants won game one 7-1 before completing the sweep with a 9-8 victory in the nightcap to improve to 17-8 overall and 9-2 in conference play.        
 
Game 1
 
Keystone used the long ball to power past Marywood (7-14, 4-7 CSAC) in the opener as Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale) hit a pair of two-run home runs while Sebastian De La Cruz (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) added a two-run shot in the game one victory. 
 
Kelly gave Keystone a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning of Thursday's opener by laced a two-run home run over the left field fence.  The freshman repeated the act in the home fourth, launching his second two-run homer of the game to give the Giants a 4-0 advantage.
 
De La Cruz got into the act with a two-run shot of his own in the bottom of the fifth inning to push Keystone's advantage to six runs. 
 
Marywood got on the board with a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning, but the Giants got the run back in the home half of the inning as De La Cruz drove in Brendan Long (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) with a base hit to left center. 
 
Troy Terzi (Wallingford, Conn./Notre Dame ) improve to 5-0 on the season by tossing a complete game with five strikeouts and one run against on five hits. 
 
Kelly, De La Cruz, and Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area) had two hits each to lead Keystone, who got a game-high four RBI from Kelly. 
 
James Goetz suffered the loss in a complete game effort for Marywood, yielding seven runs on 10 hits while picking up three strikeouts. 
 
The Giants doubled up the Pacers in hits in the opener, 10-5.
 
Game 2
 
In game two, Keystone jumped out to a 3-0 lead by scoring three runs with two outs in the in the bottom of the first inning .Anthony Ferrezza (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) scored the first run of the contest as the Pacers committed on error a ball put into play by De La Cruz before Billy Nelson (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) delivered a two-run single up the middle to give the Giants the three-run advantage.
 
Marywood got a run back on an RBI single in the top of the second inning before putting up three runs on three hits and one error in the visitor's third to claim a 4-3 lead.
 
Keystone went back in front in the bottom of the fourth inning by plating three runs on three hits.  Ferrezza connected on a two-run double to left center before Long drove in Ryan Callahan (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) with a sacrifice fly to make it a 6-4 game in favor of the hosts.
 
The Pacers pulled back to within a run, 6-5, on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning, but the Giants scored three runs on four hits in the home sixth to take a 9-5 cushion into the seventh inning. Ferrezza hit a two-run single to left before coming home on a single from Brady Barr (Bowie, Md./Bowie).
 
Marywood got a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning and made it a 9-8 game with two outs in the inning by scoring on a wild pitch before Dylan Leahy (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) recorded the final out with a strikeout.
 
Keystone starter Yeison Andujar (San Juan, P.R./Programa Educativo Alcance) took a no-decision after allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out six batters in three innings of work.  Tyler Widitz (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) was credited with the win after pitching three innings with one run against on two hits while fanning three batters.  Dan Maguire (Ocean Township, N.J./Ocean Township) surrendered three runs on three hits before giving way to Leahy, who notched his first save of the season by recording the final three outs including two via the strikeout.
 
Ferrezza went 3-3 with four RBI, Nelson had two hits and two RBI, and Bray Curreri (Eldred, N.Y./Eldred Central) added a pair of hits for the Giants, who held an 11-10 edge in hits for the contest.
 
Marywood's Salvatore Monello took the loss after yielding seven earned runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings.  Justin Perez got the final two outs for the Pacers with one hit against.
 
Vince Rebar went 3-4 with three runs scored and two RBI for the visitors while Matt Staback drove in a pair of runs in the game two loss.
