Hartford, Conn. – Junior Carter Snyder (Lemont, Ill.) tied the game with a two-run homer and first-year C Alex Rodriguez (South Windsor, Conn.) followed with an RBI single for the game-winning run in the eighth inning to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 6-4 victory over the Western Connecticut State University Colonials in baseball action this evening at Westside Field.  Trinity improves to 13-12 while the Colonials fall to 11-13.

Trinity trailed, 2-0, after seven innings, but first-year Matt Koperniak (Adams, Mass.) led off the eighth with a double and Snyder blasted the game-tying shot over the rightfield fence to tie it up.  Senior 3B Nick DiBenedetto (Fort Myers, Fla.) walked and junior 2B Cooper Mooney (Southbury, Conn.) singled to set Rodriguez up for the game-winning RBI single that made the score, 3-2.  Trinity junior OF Ryan Vultaggio (Vero Beach, Fla.) drove home Mooney to make it 4-2, while Snyder and DiBenedetto delivered RBI singles in the ninth frame to put the Bantams ahead by four.  The Colonials scored twice in the bottom of the ninth, but Bantam junior co-captain Brendan Pierce (Hingham, Mass.) came in to pitch with one out and closed the door for his second save of the spring.

Koperniak was 3-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base, while Snyder came off the bench to finish 3-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBI.  Mooney, Rodriguez, and Vultaggio each had two hits for the Bantams, while junior RHP Nick Fusco (Orange, Conn) tossed five innings in relief and allowed four hits and one run with two walks and a strikeout to earn his first victory of the season on the mound.
