The Baruch College Bearcats lost 13-2 to the Pioneers of William Paterson University on Thursday afternoon in Wayne, New Jersey.

The host Pioneers won with a line score of 13 runs, 10 hits and two errors. The visiting Bearcats had two runs, four hits and four errors in dropping their season opener.

The Bearcats got on the scoreboard first in their opening at-bat on a sacrifice fly RBI by Edwin St. Hilaire to plate Davic Capellan.

The lead would be short-lived as the Pioneer scored five runs in their opening at-bat and added two more in the fourth inning to lead 7-1.

The Bearcats got a run back in their top half of the fifth as Michael McGroarty smacked an RBI single to plate Capellan again.

They did not score again in the loss to an opponent that competes in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).

The game was later called in the middle of the eighth inning due to darkness.
