FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Brooks Warrenfeltz drew a school record five of Hood College's 11 bases on balls as the Blazers defeated Scranton 12-6 to open the team's spring break trip.

In addition to remaining undefeated in 2018, Hood scored 10-plus runs for the sixth straight game.

• Warrenfeltz broke Hood's record of four walks set by Dylan Johnson earlier this year. Warrenfeltz's five bases on balls were one shy of the Division III single-game record and the most for a Division III player since 2011. 
• Nathan Kessler hit a three-run home run and went 2 for 3 with a walk and four runs batted in. Wayne Baldwin drove in two and finished 2 for 5. Dylan Beck doubled twice. 
• Brad Sawyer picked up the win with three innings of relief work. The sophomore scattered three hits and four walks. He struck out four and gave up two runs, one earned. Jahlin Jean-Baptiste pitched a scoreless eighth and Jake Howell struck out two in a perfect ninth. Nate Luscombe started and went four innings. He struck out four and walked one. Only one of the four runs he allowed was earned. 

How it Happened

• Hood scored first with three runs in the top of the second inning, all with two outs. Beck's first double brought in Kessler and Beck came home on a base hit by Cam Esposito for a 3-0 lead. 
• After the Royals' Ian McIntosh tripled and scored to make it 3-1, the Blazers added four runs in the top of the third. Warrenfeltz, Johnson and Drake Friend each walked to load the bases with one out. Patterson drove in the first run with a fielder's choice. Kessler followed with a three-run homer, the first of his career to make it 7-1. The home run was the Blazers' only hit of the inning. 
• Patrick Mergel had an RBI double and scored on a two-run single by Connor Harding in the bottom of the inning to cut the Blazers' lead to 7-4. 
• Esposito led off the sixth with a walk, Daniel Shepherd singled and Warrenfeltz walked to load the bases. Johnson drove in Esposito and a wild pitch allowed Shepherd to score for a 9-4 lead. Wayne Baldwin's two-run single stretched the lead to seven. 
• Baldwin drove in Hood's final run in the eighth with a single. In the bottom of the inning, Tommy Trotter had a two-run base hit to chip the lead to 12-6. 

Notes

• Mergel, Harding, Kevin Haag and Seth Bower had two hits apiece for Scranton. Harding drove in three and Mergel doubled twice. 
• Christian Huckfeldt allowed five earned runs in two innings to take the loss.
