Baruch, Finlandia Split CUNYAC Doubleheader; Two Solid Pitching Duels

The Bearcats and Lions of Finlandia University played for the first time in a CUNYAC doubleheader on Saturday in Fort Myers, Florida.

Finlandia from the state of Michigan is in their first season as an associate member of the CUNYAC baseball conference.

In the first contest, Paul Sirakowski pitched a complete game shutout of seven innings and 10 strikeouts to hand the Bearcats their first win of the season.

Matthew Tirado had the game-winning hit to account for the game's only run with an RBI single to plate Donovan Hunt in the seventh inning.

In the second contest, the Bearcats suffered a 2-1 extra inning loss in eight innings.  
 
In the top sixth, the Lions scored first on a sacrifice fly, but the Bearcats tied it in the bottom sixth as Gerardo Roque doubled down the right field line to score Davic Capellan
   
The Lions won it in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the eighth inning as each team now stands at 1-1 in the early conference standings.
