William Paterson Baseball Drops 6-0 Decision at Montclair State

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The William Paterson baseball team (12-8, 1-3 NJAC) dropped a 6-0 decision at Montclair State (14-7, 3-1 NJAC) April 6.

 

The Red Hawks did most of their damage in the third inning, using a walk, two singles, a hit by pitch and two more base hits to cross the plate five times with two outs.

 

MSU added a run in the eighth, stringing together a base hit, walk and RBI-single to left.

 

Freshmen Steven DiGirolamo, Greg Cuevas and Francis Deane had WP's three hits.

 

Sophomore Kyle Weiner (2-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks, striking out two over 3.0 innings. Classmate Zac Polzer tossed 4.0 scoreless innings, posting four strikeouts while surrendering one hit. Senior Bryan Kopko gave up one run, two hits and a walk during 1.0 inning of work.

 

Sophomore catcher Justin Bates finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and a pair of runs scored for the Red Hawks. Senior Connor Lindsay pitched the complete-game shutout, striking out eight while scattering three hits.

 

William Paterson will go to New Jersey City for a doubleheader Saturday, April 7, at 11:30 a.m.
