Baruch Splits DH with New Rochelle

More news about: Baruch

The Baruch College Bearcats split their doubleheader versus The College of New Rochelle on Sunday afternoon in Purchase, NY.

The visiting Bearcats shut out New Rochelle 3-0 in the opening game before falling 5-0 in the second.

Matteo Flamio got the win by pitching 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball, striking out four batters along the way. Dainiel Malik relieved Flamio for the final 2.1 innings, surrendering just two hits while keeping the shutout intact.

The Bearcats scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning. Gerardo Roque drove in Donovan Hunt with an RBI single, and Angel Acevedo used a sacrifice fly to knock in Michael McGroarty for the 3-0 final score.

In the second game, Freshman pitcher Nicholas Valeriano kept New Rochelle off the board in his 2.2 innings of relief.

McGroarty and Conor McCabe gave the Bearcats a lifeline when they both singled in the 7th inning. But Baruch would have to settle with splitting the doubleheader.

The Bearcats play again Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they take on St. Joseph's College of Long Island at MCU Park.
