LOS ANGELES — Occidental rookie starter Diego Ramirez had another great outing on Saturday in Game 2 of a doubleheader, beating Centenary (La.) 9-1.

Ramirez, a first year from Winnetka, went six scoreless innings, with no walks and three strikeouts. In 19 innings this season, he's surrendered just three runs and walked only three batters.

Nolan McCarthy, who's also been outstanding on the hill for the Tigers this year, came on to finish off the game with a three-inning save, giving up one run on a homer in the ninth.

Oxy had its 8-0 win streak to start the season come to an end in an 8-4 loss in Game 1.

Gibbs had a big day at the plate for the Tigers, going 5 for 6 with five RBIs, a three-run homer in Game 1 and a pair of runs scored.

Jake Fredrickson went 1 for 2 with a solo shot in Game 2, Gus Patrick went 2 for 3 with three runs scored and Caleb Reyes was 3 for 3 with an RBI.

Oxy jumped on Centenary (La.) with a four-run second and kept adding to its lead with two runs in the fourth and fifth, and one more in the seventh in Game 2.

The Tigers let Game 1 get away from them in the fifth on an error and a wild pitch that led to a six-run inning.

Season Impact: Oxy's record is now 8-1.

Centenary (La.) goes to 6-8.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Monday at 1:30 p.m., playing Drew in a game that was postponed due to rain on Saturday.
