PITTSFORD, N.Y. — The Keuka College Baseball team lost an Empire 8 Conference game to St. John Fisher 20-3 at Dugan Yard in Pittsford, N.Y. on Saturday afternoon.

Dave Verrett (Cicero, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) had a big day at the plate for Keuka College (5-13, 5-13 Empire 8). The graduate student accounted for three of Keuka's seven hits on the day and drove in a run.

The Wolves struck fast, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Keuka College loaded the bases with one out. Aaron Simons (Rome, N.Y. / Rome Free Academy) plated a run with a sacrifice fly to center. Dave Verrett then followed that with a single through the infield to score Ryan Seales (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) and give the Wolves a 2-0 lead.

St. John Fisher responded quickly with five runs in the bottom of the first. The Cardinals added 15 more throughout the duration of the nine-inning game on Saturday.

The Green and Gold added a run in the top of the ninth. Josh Tryon (Elmira, N.Y. / Thomas A. Edison) led the inning off with a double to right. Dylan Richards (Johnson City, N.Y. / Johnson City) singled with two outs to score Tryon, but the Cardinals closed it out as Keuka College fell 20-3 on Saturday.

KC Notes:

  • It was the 18th straight win for the Cardinals over the Wolves. Keuka College is 1-32 all-time against St. John Fisher College
  • Nic Carbone (Amsterdam, N.Y. / Amsterdam) made his first career start on the mound for the Wolves.
  • KC Howe (Mount Morris, N.Y. / Mount Morris) and Joe DiBenedetto (Nanuet, N.Y. / East Carteret (NC)) both threw an inning of relief. It was the 40th career appearance for the duo as they remain tied for second-most in program history
  • Adam Pankowski (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / Christian Brothers Academy) also came from the bullpen, making his 34th career appearance, also ranking in the top ten in program history
  • Three hits by Verrett tied his career-high

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves will close their regular season on Sunday on the road. Keuka College will face Elmira College in an Empire 8 doubleheader. First pitch from Dunn Field in Elmira is set for 11am.
