Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg junior Avery Neaves had the walk-off hit in Tuesday's comeback win over Randolph-Macon.

Neaves blasted a double with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth as his team trailed 7-5 to complete the seven-run comeback.

Jack Bachmore started the game for the No. 4-ranked Hornets and pitched five innings. He allowed four runs but only two were earned.

When Travis Shumate took over on the mound in the sixth, Lynchburg trailed 4-0. The junior from Aylett, Va. and Adam Dofflemyer combined to complete the sixth without a run. After R-MC tacked on three more in the eighth, Angel Collazo and Kendrick Creasey got through the rest of the inning without any more damage.

Lynchburg went to bat in the bottom of the eighth trailing 7-0 and with only two hits. Ryan Long had a single, Garrett Jackson doubled, and Cameron Lane was hit by a pitch during the previous seven innings. Lane's hit-by-pitch extended his on-base streak to 18.

Lane got on base again with a walk to begin the eighth. After Garrett Jackson grounded into a fielder's choice, Avery Neaves hit his third home run of the season to get Lynchburg on the board. Joseph Hurowitz retired the Yellow Jackets in order during the ninth to preserve Lynchburg's 7-2 deficit.

The comeback started immediately in the bottom of the ninth as Gavin Collins led off with a single. Josh Gjormand singled right after, and Collins scored on an error by R-MC's right fielder.

The Hornets chipped away at the lead as Holden Fiedler knocked an RBI single, and Logan Webster earned an RBI with a hit-by-pitch.

Avery Neaves cleared the bases with a three-run double and secured the comeback victory. He ended the day 2-5 with a season-high five RBI, and Hurowtiz earned his second win.

Neaves' walk-off double secured Lynchburg's 12th home win of the season.

The Hornets (15-3, 5-0 ODAC) host Tufts on Friday, Mar. 25 at 3 p.m.
