12 Different Dutchmen Score In Baseball’s 20-3 Road Win

LANGHORNE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College baseball team scored 20 runs for the second time this year to win their fourth straight game with a 20-3 road win at Cairn University on Tuesday afternoon at the Stillman Complex in Langhorne.
 
The Dutchmen (9-5) scored plenty of runs early plating runs in the first three innings but didn't really break the game open until a six-run fifth. LVC scored a run in the first, three in the second, and four in the fourth before their big inning. They added five more in the eighth and one in the ninth before Cairn (7-5) managed to score all three of their runs in the ninth.
 
Inside the Box Score

  • The Dutchmen scored their second-most runs of the year on 18 hits and 10 walks with seven hit-by-pitches. 12 different Dutchmen scored at least one run including all nine starters. LVC now has three games this year where they have drawn at least 10 walks.
  • Nico Santoro had four of the team's 18 RBIs on two hits including a bases-loaded triple in the second. Ryan Petrucci hit his first career home run to right field in the fifth inning to score three runs.
  • Ethan O'Loughlin had a huge game with four hits. Ryan Murphy had three hits in the game while Luke Blair knocked in three runs. Duncan Weir led the team with three runs scored.
  • Shane Stossel, Tony Bennage, and Will Zimmerman threw eight shutout innings. Stossel earned the win in his second start of the year with six strikeouts and two hits allowed in five innings. Bennage threw two innings with three strikeouts and one hit. Zimmerman struck out three in the eighth and allowed two hits. Blair Shaffer pitched the ninth and struck out two.
  • This was the first-ever meeting between LVC and Cairn on the baseball field. 

Who's Next
Lebanon Valley will be at McGill Field the next two days with games against Elizabethtown and Saint Elizabeth University. The Dutchmen will host the Blue Jays tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. before playing SEU on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
