WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Joe Lehner (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic) and Dan Beistel (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) slugged a home run each as the Washington & Jefferson baseball team posted 2-1 and 10-6 wins over Saint Vincent in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday at Ross Memorial Park.

In the third, Nate Rash (Wheeling, W.VA./The Linsly School) reached first on a fielder's choice allowing Lehner to score the first run of the afternoon.

The Bearcats evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the fourth but the Presidents countered with the eventual game-winning run in the bottom half of the frame. Jacob LaDuca (Clarence, N.Y./Canisius) came through with a clutch two-out RBI double that scored Roman Samson(Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Prep) to break the tie.

Jameson Campbell (Painesville, Ohio/Painesville Riverside) registered another stellar performance on the mound during game one. Campbell allowed just two hits and one run in a complete game seven-inning performance. The senior is now 3-1 on the season.

Game 2: W&J 10, Saint Vincent 6

Lehner led off the second by sending a pitch over the right field fence for his first collegiate home run. His solo blast gave the Presidents a 1-0 lead. SVC tied the score when Zack VonStein hit a RBI double in the top of the fourth.  Beistel helped W&J regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth when he sent a two-run home run over the fence.

In the fifth, Rush and Peter Kalinksi (Washington, D.C./Saint John's College) opened the inning with a pair of walks. A stolen base from Rush and a single by Evan Sante (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) sent Rush home to open a four-run inning for the Presidents. Samson's fielder choice was followed by singles from Lehner, Beistel, and LaDuca to extend the lead to 6-2. A sacrifice fly by Jason Gregovits (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) sacrifice fly to left field made it 7-2.

The sixth was another strong inning for the Red & Black as they scored three more runs. Rush opened with a double down the left field line and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Sante then drew a walk before scoring on a Samson double. The last run of the game came from a Beistel sac fly that scored Samson.

Shane Fox (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) threw the first 4.0 innings, allowing one run and striking out three to earn his first win this season.

Lehner led the Presidents with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate in game two. Beistel added a pair of hits.
