Giants Earn 6-3 Victory at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Keystone College baseball team enjoyed a 6-3 road victory at non-conference opponent DeSales University on Tuesday night at Weiland Park.

With the win, the Giants improve to 11-12 (5-1 CSAC) and will be back in action on Monday, April 18 to host the University of Valley Forge (5-16, 2-4 CSAC) in a doubleheader, starting at 12 p.m. The Bulldogs drop to 13-11 and will host Moravian University (14-12) tomorrow at 5 p.m.

Keystone scored all six runs with a pair of three-run innings - the fourth and the sixth - and enjoyed nine hits on the night as seven different players tallied at least one hit. DeSales notched 12 hits and scored twice in the bottom of the fifth.

Julio Acosta (Elizabeth, N.J./Hudson Catholic) and Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman) tallied two hits apiece as Acosta ripped a double down the left-field line in the fifth while Thomas notched a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Taravella), and Pedro Abreu (Bronx, N.Y./Santa Teresa) collecting one RBI each.

Patrick Adamski (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) earned Tuesday night's start and tossed four innings, scattering six hits while allowing just one run, forcing 10 flyouts and two groundouts. Julian Gonzalez (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) appeared in relief and earned his first win of the season, throwing three frames with four flyouts and three groundouts.

Nick Gravel (Sidney, N.Y./Sidney) enjoyed a two-inning save - his first of the year - with three strikeouts, two flyouts, and one groundout.

DeSales jumped out to a 1-0 in the third but the Giants responded with a three-run fourth to claim a 3-1 edge. The Bulldogs knotted the contest up at 3-3 in the fifth, thanks to a two-run double to left-center.

However, Keystone bounced back with a three-run sixth, thanks to an Abreu hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded followed by a walk by Cosby with the bases juiced. Pokorney completed the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice.
