NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College baseball team completed a weekend sweep of Lesley University on Sunday afternoon, prevailing by a 17-0 final in New England Collegiate Conference play.

Mitchell (23-7 overall, 6-2 NECC) hit up Lesley pitching for 15 hits and fell one run shy of tying its season high. The Mariners won all three games against the Lynx this weekend to take three of four regular season meetings.

Mitchell's pitching staff gave up only three hits and didn't allow a runner past first base. Starter Daniel Driscoll surrendered two hits over 5.0 innings and improved to 4-0 on the season.

Justin Dennett had two hits to pace the Lynx, who dropped to 13-11-1 overall (1-8-1 NECC).

The Mariners, who batted as the visiting team, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Hunter Yaworski brought home the first run with a ground out to the pitcher, and Lelo Martinez followed with an RBI single up the middle.

Mitchell sent 10 batters to the plate in the second inning and put up six runs to break the game open. Angel Galindez got things started with a poke into left field to drive in the first run, and Bo Yaworski followed with a two-run single. H. Yaworski later added a two-run double, and Matt Falk knocked in the final run with a ground out to short.

The Mariners batted around again in the fourth, adding five runs to expand the lead to 13-0. Martinez and Owen Robbins each contributed RBI doubles in the frame while Falk supplied a two-run single.

Dougie DelaCruz led off the fifth inning with a triple and scored on a base hit by H. Yaworski. The Mariners went on to tack on three more runs in the frame, with Juan Abreu and Elijah Morton each chipping in RBI singles.

Driscoll faced only one batter over the minimum as he racked up eight strikeouts. Tyler Daly and Sam Majewski each turned in a scoreless inning of relief and yielded one hit between them.

Nate Trudnich suffered the loss for Lesley, allowing eight runs (six earned) on four hits over 1.1 innings.
