OSWEGO, N.Y. - Lukas Olsson hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift nationally 18th-ranked Oswego to a 9-7 victory over fifth-ranked Cortland to begin a key three-game SUNYAC series between the teams.

Oswego (23-7, 12-1 SUNYAC) and Cortland (26-9, 11-2 SUNYAC) will conclude their series with a doubleheader Saturday at noon in Oswego.

Olsson also homered earlier in the game and finished 3-for-5 with a walk, five RBI and two runs scored. Paul Tammaro went 3-for-4 with a walk, Ryan Enos was 2-for-4 with two walks and two RBI, and Ryan Weiss went 2-for-5 with an RBI as the Lakers finished with 12 hits.

Cortland also recorded 12 hits in the contest. Nick Chemotti (Warners/West Genesee) went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI after entering the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. He gave Cortland a 7-6 lead in the top of the 10th inning with a one-out RBI double after Danny Coleman (Saratoga Springs) led off the inning with a single. Coleman finished 2-for-4 with a double, walk and three runs scored, Antonio Pragana (Hopewell Junction/John Jay) was 2-for-3 with a double, walk and two runs, and Ben Rhodes (Amsterdam) finished 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Cortland led 2-0 after scoring once in the first on a Scott Giordano (Croton-on-Hudson/Croton-Harmon) RBI single and once in the third on a Pragana leadoff double, a passed ball and a Giordano sac fly. Oswego grabbed a 3-2 lead in the third on an Enos RBI double and an Olsson two-run homer.

Each team scored three times in the sixth. Cortland's runs came via a Chris Bonacci (Syracuse/West Genesee) RBI double, a Chemotti RBI groundout and a Rhodes RBI infield single. Oswego's runs in the frame were the result of a Weiss solo homer, a wild pitch a few batters later that let a runner score from third, and an Enos RBI single.

Cortland tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the seventh. Coleman doubled with one out and scored on Chemotti's two-out single to center. Oswego loaded the base with two outs in the eighth before a groundout ended that threat.

Oswego's winning rally started when the leadoff batter, Blake Van Dreason, reached on an error. After a Tammaro sac bunt and an Enos walk, Kyle Lauria hit into a fielder's choice with a force out at second resulting in the second out. Olsson followed with his walk-off homer.

Ryan Flansburg (Queensbury) started for Cortland and gave up five runs in five innings. Dylan Beers (Woodbury/Monroe-Woodbury), the Red Dragons' second reliever, allowed four hits over the final four innings. He struck out three and walked three, and the three runs he gave up in the 10th were unearned. Jacob Sanders, Oswego's starter, allowed five runs, four earned, in five innings. The Lakers threw three relievers, with Evan Dempsey earning the win despite allowing the Chemotti RBI double as he retired the next two batters.
