HOW IT HAPPENED
Three Pioneers hit home runs, and six Pios finished with multiple hits in the 22-7 victory over the Poets.

Junior Luke Bass earned his first RBI of the day with a double to right center in the first, and sophomore Brennen Davis scored the first of his team-high five runs on the play.

Senior Jack Thomson became the third Pioneer to record 100 career base on balls when he was walked on his second at-bat in the third. After that, the bats came alive for Lewis & Clark in the inning, as they scored ten runs on seven hits. Sophomore Will Heron and senior Dylan Moore recorded back-to-back two-run base hits to make it 5-0.   Moore then stole second base, and junior Jakob Ghammachi singled to center to earn his first RBI of the day. After a pitching change for the Poets, Ghammachi stole second. Freshman Brandon Gonzaga tripled to right field to drive in Ghammachi and grad student Jacob Serafini. Whittier made a second pitching change in the inning, and Thomson reached first on an error by the first baseman while Gonzaga ran to home. Thomson would record his second run of the inning on a pitcher error, and Bass would earn his second RBI with a single to right field to end the scoring bonanza for the Pioneers and go up 11-0.

The fourth inning started with Moore hitting a solo shot to left center to extend the lead to 12-4. By the end of the inning, Davis, Bass, and Heron would all record RBI, and Lewis & Clark led 16-4.

In the top of the sixth, Davis and Bass hit back-to-back solo home runs to extend the Pioneer lead to 19-7.

The Pioneer scoring ended in the top of the eighth inning when Serafini drove in a run with a single to left field, and senior Henry Goodier added a pinch-hit, two-run single.

Senior Kris Wuelfing earned the win from the mound after replacing starting pitcher, sophomore Kyle Wilsie, in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wilsie gave up four runs in three innings in his first collegiate start. Wuelfing went two innings and allowed three runs.
