ST. THOMAS STIFLES WAR HAWKS

More news about: McMurry

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The pitching tandem of junior Jonathan Enriquez (Galveston, Texas) and freshman Bryson Morrill (Trophy Club, Texas) kept McMurry University close throughout in the opener of a three-game weekend series Friday, Feb. 17.

Enriquez worked around nine hits from a pesky University of St. Thomas offense at Houston Christian University's field. He was touched for three runs, of which two were earned over five, and a third innings with five strikeouts peppered in. Morrill continued to be a positive source out of the Maroon, Black, and White bullpen, shutting down the Celts on four hits over the last two and two-thirds.

While head coach Josh Lee's duo was battling hard, the host pitching staff was almost unhittable. Sophomore outfielder Koy Carpenter (La Vernia, Texas) opened the game with a single and stolen base, but from that point on, no more War Hawks hits were surrendered, and only one free pass was issued.

A 3-0 defeat dropped McMurry to 0-4 on the young campaign. They resume the weekend set with UST Saturday, Feb. 18, with a doubleheader that begins at 11 a.m.
