CLARKSVILLE, ARK. – Sophomore outfielder Koy Carpenter (La Vernia, Texas) registered four hits, pacing five McMurry University hitters with two-or-more Monday, March 27.

Carpenter's four-for-five, three-runs-scored output was at the forefront of a 9-7 War Hawks win that claimed a weekend American Southwest Conference road set at the University of the Ozarks' Lonnie Qualls Field. The triumph, the seventh in the last 10 games for the Maroon and White, moved head coach Josh Lee's team to 10-12 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

Following the sophomore's standout afternoon was the quartet of fellow sophomore outfielder Xavier Escobar (Buda, Texas), freshman outfielder Tatum Black (Friendswood, Texas), sophomore designated hitter Dylan Abbott (San Angelo, Texas), and freshman infielder Noah Hamel (Schertz, Texas). They each tallied two hits. Escobar and Black's safeties were especially productive, driving in five combined runs.

Buoyed by the 16-hit blitzkrieg, the War Hawks pitching staff went to work. Sophomore starter Jonathan Enriquez (Galveston, Texas), senior Travis Beauchamp (Waco, Texas), sophomore Adam Trevino (Galveston, Texas), and sophomore Grayson Winter (Buda, Texas) struck out eight Eagles, with Trevino earning the win, and Winter slamming the door shut over the final one and two-thirds for the save.

The War Hawks, beginning a stretch of five games in six days with the conference series closing contest, travel to the University of Dallas Tuesday, March 28. Game time is 2 p.m.
