PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State baseball team completed the sweep over State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe SUNY New Paltz on Saturday afternoon, as the team was led by a fantastic performance from Kyle Cremin (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic) in the conference doubleheader. The Cardinals got some solid starts from Chris Santic (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) and Andrew Veit (Yaphank, N.Y./Bellport), who each earned wins and received timely hitting from the Cardinal offense. Nick Cergol (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai) reached base four times on the day, scoring two runs and driving in a run and Conner Gonzalski (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had three hits, walked twice, and drove in a run on the day.

Game Two: Plattsburgh 10, New Paltz 7

Once again, a solid start, this time from Veit, and Cremin's hot bat led the Cards to another double. Veit pitched 8.1 innings, striking out a career-high 11 batters to earn the win, while Cremin was 3-4 in game two, driving in two runs once again, doubling, scoring twice, and drawing an intentional walk. The only time the sophomore was retired on the day was on a scorching ground ball that turned into a double play but still scored a run for Plattsburgh.

Christian Ott (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) had two hits, two runs, and two RBI in game two while Jack Defayette (Rotterdam, N.Y./Schalmont) had two hits and two runs scored. Matt Blair (Elma, N.Y./Iroquois) had a three-run double to open the game up for the Cards and Kolby Mordecki (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) finished the game on the mound with two outs of work to clinch the in for Plattsburgh.

For the second time in the series. the Cardinals jumped out to a first-inning lead, as Cremin doubled down the right-field line to score Kornblau. Cremin eventually came around to score on a wild pitch. As they did twice in game one of the day, New Paltz responded in the following half-inning, scoring three runs off of a Sarni RBI single and a Fabian Apicella two-run double to take the lead. The Cards followed in the next half-inning scoring two runs themselves, as Ott drove in two runs with a bloop single to right to help the team take a 4-3 lead.

Plattsburgh would add to their lead in the third and fourth innings, as Cremin singled home a run in the third and Adam Wein (North Rockland, N.Y./Don Bosco Prep) singled home Ott with a single to right-center. After New Paltz added a run in the fifth to bring the deficit to two, Cremin brought a run home by grounding into a double play to return the lead to three runs.

In the eighth, Cremin, Gonzalski, and Ott all reached to start the frame, and Blair followed with a line drive to left-center that rolled to the fence and scored all three runners to double Plattsburgh's lead. With a six-run cushion, Veit went back out to finish the game but was removed for Mordecki after a three-run homer from the Hawks. Mordecki gave up one hit but forced Harvey to fly out to center to end the game and give Plattsburgh a SUNYAC sweep.

For New Paltz, James Trink took the loss on the bump after working four innings, letting up four runs and striking out five. Sais had three hits and an RBI for the Hawks while Apicella was 3-4 with two RBI and Dillon Ristano had a three-run homer.
