BW Baseball’s Vonderhaar named CSC Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior All-American infielder Luke Vonderhaar (New Bremen) of the Baldwin Wallace University baseball team has been selected as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American for the second consecutive season.

Vonderhaar earns his second consecutive Academic All-American honor after posting 3.986 GPA during his time at BW. This past week he also earned his second NCAA Elite 90 Award. The NCAA Elite 90 Award is giving to the player with the highest GPA at each NCAA Championship. Vonderhaar is also a back-to-back winner and was the first winner of the award in school history.

This season, Vonderhaar was named the BW male recipient of the Clyde Lamb Award, he was a CSC Academic All-District honoree for the second consecutive season and he earned his third career Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference honor. He is also a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Dayton C. Miller and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries. 

On the field, Vonderhaar has a .349 batting average with a .445 on-base percentage and a .561 slugging percentage. He collected 74 hits, 21 doubles, eight home runs, he has 62 runs scored and 52 RBIs. He also swiped eight stolen bases this season. His 21 doubles set the program record for doubles in a season. He was named to the American Baseball Coaches/ Rawlings All-Region 7 third team and earned All-OAC first team honors.

In his career, Vonderhaar is hitting .339 with a .426 on-base percentage and a .595 slugging percentage. He has 190 hits, 44 doubles, 2 triples, 32 home runs, 151 runs scored and 156 RBIs. He was named an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-America third team recipient, a D3baseball.com All-American fourth team honoree, an American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region first team selection, a D3baseball.com All-Region first team selection, the Brockport (N.Y.) NCAA All-Regional Tournament MVP and he was named to the 2022 OAC All-Tournament team.   

BW finished the season with a 39-12 mark, including finishing third at the NCAA Division III College World Series. In the OAC, the Yellow Jackets finished with a 15-3 record and their first outright OAC Regular Season Title since 1986.
