GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior All-American and Academic All-American baseball infielder Luke Vonderhaar (New Bremen) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Defensive Region team.

Vonderhaar, who garners his first accolade, is one of four Ohio players and one of two Ohio Athletic Conference players to be named to the nine-player squad.

This season, he concluded his illustrious career batting.349 batting (74-of-212) with a .445 on-base percentage and a .561 slugging percentage. Vonderhaar led the team with 62 runs scored and 21 doubles and was tied for the squad lead with eight home runs.  He was second on the team with 52 runs batted-in (RBIs).  Vonderhaar's 21 doubles set the program record for doubles in a season. He had a .994 fielding percentage with 445 putouts and 28 assists.

For his career, Vonderhaar batted .339 (190-of-561) with a .426 on-base percentage and a .595 slugging percentage. He recorded 156 RBIs, 59 walks, 44 doubles, 32 homeruns, 21 stolen bases and two triples.  Vonderhaar had a career 9.89 fielding percentage with 919 putouts and 47 assists.

He was a three-time All-OAC first-team selection, two-time AVBCA and D3baseball.com All-Region team selection, 2023 BW male recipient of the Clyde Lamb Award, 2022 ABCA and D3baseball.com All-American, 2022 NCAA Division III Brockport (N.Y.) Regional Tournament Most Valuable Player and 2022 OAC All-Tournament Team selection 

Off the field, Vonderhaar was the 2023 and 2022 NCAA Division III Elite 90 Award Winner, the first ever baseball student-athlete to win the award in back-to-back seasons and the University first ever award winner.  He was a three-time Academic All-OAC student-athlete, two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Dayton C. Miller and Chi Alpha Sigma honoraries. 

BW finished the season with a 39-12 mark, including finishing third at the NCAA Division III College World Series. In the OAC, the Yellow Jackets finished with a 15-3 record and their first outright OAC Regular Season Title since 1986.
