Mustangs’ series against Lions ends short

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson baseball (9-15, 4-8) ended their series against Middle Atlantic Conference opponent Albright (6-17, 2-10) on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 6-5.
 
After the Lions posted two runs in the top of the first, the Mustangs managed to answer with a run from junior infield Brandon Perillo on a single from first-year outfield Christopher Manco in the bottom of the second.
 
In the bottom of the sixth, the Mustangs added a second run on a wild pitch, allowing junior infield Brady Bedway to take third base. The Mustangs gained a temporary tie and then the lead in the bottom of the eighth when first-year shortstop Jaylon Surell scored on a single from senior infield Ryan Lassiter. Taking advantage of an error, sophomore outfield Graham Sears reached first shortly after, giving sophomore outfield Collin Palmieri the fourth run for the Mustangs.
 
By the bottom of the ninth, junior outfield Dalton Reinhart had scored the final run for the Mustangs with sophomore outfield Kaige Garrity at bat reaching on a fielder's choice. An final fly out ended the game for the Mustangs just short, 6-5.
 
The Mustangs had 10 total hits with four RBI and five walks on the afternoon. Reinhart, sophomore catcher John Padousis, and Garrity each picked up a pair of hits, with Sears, Manco, Garrity, and Lassiter each with an RBI.
 
Starter junior Connor Fox struck out one on two hits, three runs and four walks. Junior Caden Dail pitched with a balk ruled later in the game on a walk, and senior Kyle Pellegrino faced 10 at bats for 3.0 innings pitched against two hits.
 
The Mustangs stay home as they take on the Neumann University Knights on Wednesday, April 10 at 3:30 on East Campus.
