Mustangs outscored by Golden Wolves

READING, Pa. – Stevenson baseball (9-16, 4-9) scored an early game run before being outpaced by the Alvernia Golden Wolves (18-10, 10-3) in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth play on Saturday afternoon. The final score was 7-3.
 
A single from first-year right fielder Christopher Manco got the Mustangs on the board early, allowing senior first basemen Nick Tamberino on base to reach home. The Mustangs were quickly tied in the bottom of the second when the Golden Wolves collected four runs against two HBPs, a hit, and a walk.
 
The final two Mustang runs  arrived in the top of the seventh, with the first from pinch hitter and senior third basemen Ryan Lassiter. Although called out at first, the advance allowed Manco to reach  home for the second run. The third run arrived shortly thereafter on a single from junior infielder Brandon Perillo, allowing sophomore catcher John Padousis to reach home.
 
On the afternoon, Lassiter, Perillo, and Manco each had an RBI, with Perillo adding four hits on five at-bats for the Mustangs. Five Mustangs appeared on the mound, with junior Connor Fox accepting the loss on two strikeouts against four earned runs. Senior Jake Pigeon, pitching for 4.0 innings, struck out three against four hits and a walk.
 
The Mustangs continue their series against the Golden Wolves with a doubleheader, celebrating their senior day tomorrow, Sunday, April 14 beginning at noon at East Campus.
