GRANTHAM, Pa. – Stevenson baseball (9-22, 4-14) concluded their doubleheader this afternoon and series with conference opponent Messiah University (27-8, 16-2) on Saturday afternoon. The final scores were 12-5 and 6-1.
 
GAME 1
Getting on the board first in the first inning, a pair of stolen bases from junior catcher Matt Perri and sophomore center fielder Graham Sears secured the first run. The Falcons quickly tied 1-1 on a sacrifice fly.
 
The second run was secured on a Falcons throwing error following a stolen base from sophomore left fielder Kaige Garrity in the fourth inning. In the fifth inning, junior designated hitter Dalton Reinhart homered and picked up an RBI to keep the Mustangs in the game.
 
A sixth inning homer from sophomore first baseman Vince Licor resulted in two more for the Mustangs, allowing sophomore right fielder Collin Palmieri to score in the sixth inning.
 
Licor secured two RBI in his late game play. On pitching, senior Jason Labrador took the loss with 3.2 innings pitched and striking out two. Senior Jake Boden appeared on the mound for an inning, striking out one against a hit.
 
GAME 2
Lower scoring in comparison, the Mustangs managed to get on the board early again. A sacrifice fly out from junior third baseman Anthony D'Angeli secured a run for first-year right fielder Christopher Manco.
 
In the second game, Garrity secured two hits on four at-bats. Appearing on the mound, first-year Jake Treasure took the loss with 6.0 IP, striking out three against four runs and six hits. Sophomore Brendan Phillips also had time, striking out three in 1.0 IP. Senior Jake Pigeon struck out one, giving up two runs and a hit.
 
UP NEXT
The Mustangs will return home to make up a previously postponed game on Tuesday, April 23 against Neumann University for a 3:30 p.m. game at East Campus.
