• Texas Lutheran opens DIII season with sweep

    Three games in and three wins for Texas Lutheran. On Friday the TLU Bulldogs won the opening game of the D-III Season 8-1 over visiting Sul Ross State, followed that up with a 12-3 win on Saturday night and a run-ruled win for the sweep. Caltech and Occidental earned early wins on Saturday with Caltech dropping the nightcap and Occidental sweeping the day.

    Dallas and Sul Ross State split and Texas Lutheran won one of two with Pacific as the first teams from Texas to got on the field for the 2023 season. Twenty games were played on Saturday, up from the six played on opening day.

    School officials announced that Ely Gallego was named the head baseball coach at Sul Ross State. Gallego spent the previous four seasons as a full-time assistant under former head coach Bobby Mesker, who is now the head baseball coach at Midland Christian after 14 years at the helm of the Lobos.
