UW-Eau Claire school officials announced the hiring of Patrick Reilly to lead the UW-Eau Claire baseball program. Reilly steps into the lead role of Blugold baseball after serving on Winona State University's baseball staff for 13 years.
UW-Eau Claire head coach Charles Bolden resigned from his role on Monday. Bolden served as the coach of the Blugolds for three years, beginning in the 2021 season. When the baseball program was reinstated in 2021, Bolden led the group that brought the Blugolds back onto the diamond for the first time since 1995. He was the team's first head coach following its revival.
Three no-hit pitchers fill the starting pitcher slots with Cortland's Dylan Beers, UW-Eau Claire's Matt Moore,and Centenary's Aidan Reichek. The reliever of the week, Brandon Epstein,Salisbury, also was hitless in his innings out of the bullpen.
UW-Eau Claire pitcher Matt Moore made history by throwing a no-hitter in a 7-0 victory over Bard on Tuesday night at the RussMatt Invitational. Moore kept the Raptors out of the hit column in a nine-inning complete game to earn the first no-hitter since the baseball program's reinstatement in 2021.
Worcester State and MCLA finally finished their doubleheader started on Saturday. The Lancers took both game as they prepare for Clark in a midweek contest. UW-Whitewater and UW-Eau Claire also finished their weekend series a day late with each winning once on Monday.
For the first time since 2015, a voting tie resulted in co-NCBWA Div. III Pitchers of the Week, while a 19-RBI week and a .762 on-base percentage over four games rounded out this week’s winners. This week’s selections were chosen based on performances for games played May 10-16 and are the final Div. III selections for the 2021 season.
The Blugolds earned their first win over a top 25 team since restarting their program as they surprised the UWW Warhawks 11-1. UW-EC fell but an identical score in the nightcap. Else where the MIAA opened their tournament and Penn-State Abington advanced in the NEAC.
UW-Eau Claire rebooted their season this year after closing it down in 1995. It was a long time coming but the Blugolds broke into the win column today with a 2-0 win over Finlandia. They went on to double their win total with an 18-8 victory.
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire athletics director Dan Schumacher has announced the hiring of Charles Bolden as the head baseball coach, for the Blugolds program which will restart in 2021.
