Top seeds clinched on Saturday

Freshman Andrew Schuler tossed a complete-game in game one allowing just one earned run and the Bulldogs exploded for six runs in the fifth inning of game two, earning 7-2 wins in both ends of a Freedom Conference doubleheader against Delaware Valley to clinch the top seed in next weekend's Freedom Conference Baseball Tournament at Butz Field on Saturday afternoon.

Keystone clinched the top seed in the upcoming CSAC playoffs by sweeping a doubleheader from the Neumann Knights at Christy Mathewson Field. The Giants won Saturday’s first game 6-2 to clinch first place in CSAC’s regular season standings before claiming a see-saw, 15-11 affair in the nightcap. 

The second-seeded St. Joseph's (Maine) advanced to the GNAC  tournament final after beating the league's team top seed Suffolk 9-2. The Monks await the winner of Suffolk and Johnon & Wales, whose elimination game was postponed to Sunday morning at 11 a.m. due to rain.

William Paterson secured a berth in the NJAC Tournament with a final-day 8-5, 5-3 sweep of Rutgers-Newark.  The sixth-seeded Pioneers will play at top-seeded Rutgers-Camden in the first round of the double-elimination tournament Tuesday. Kean split with Rowan, winning 8-5 in the opener and edging the Profs, 5-4 in the nightcap. Rowan clinched the second seed in the NJAC tounrament while Kean is the fouth seed. Kean will play Montclair State who walked off to a third seed.

Posting back-to-back shutouts, top-ranked Linfield got out to a great start in its final NWC series of the year, trumping Lewis & Clark 7-0 and 9-0 at Roy Helser Field. Chris Haddeland spun a 106-pitch, complete-game shutout in game one before Wildcat seniors Nick Fisher, Jake Wylie and Clayton Truex plated two runs apiece as the Linfield offense came alive after a rain delay in a massive seven-run third frame en route to a landslide victory in game two.

Widener clinches top seed in Commonwealth Conference Tournament with a sweep of Messiah, 9-4 and 1-0, in Grantham, PA. After defeating Messiah on Friday in dramatic fashion with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pride went on the road to complete the season sweep of the Falcons with their program-best 16th conference win of the season.

Mount Union swept a pair of games from Wilmington 17-1 and 14-4 at 23rd Street Field in Alliance. Mount Union cranked out a combined 39 hits and 31 runs over the two games. Senior Evan Knott made his last home series a good one as he drove in nine runs off seven hits over the two games.

Occidental split its home pair of SCIAC pool play games at Anderson Field, defeating Caltech 11-1 (7 innings) and losing to Chapman in a 2-1. Chapman and Cal Lutheran remain tied atop the SCIAC standings at 20-6.

Down 3-1 in the bottom of the first, the Buena Vists turned to left-hander Kendall Hazel out of the bullpen to replace righty Tyson Valentine. Hazel got a double play and on the strength of a four runs sixth inning and went on to take the nightcap of a doubleheader by a final of 8-5 after the Knights took game one, 6-3. The split keeps the 18th-ranked Beavers a game in front of the Knights for first in the Iowa Conference heading into the final four games of the regular season next weekend.

Regionally ranked Randolph-Macon ended Lynchburg's season with an 18-10 win and then bowwed out of the ODAC tournament  with a 7-5 loss to Bridgewater. Bridgewater will need to defeat Shenandoah twice on Sunday to earn the conference's tourament title and playoff bid.

Manhattanville won its 20th game of the season against Eastern splitting the Freedom Conference double header with the Eagles, winning game one, 6-4, before dropping game two by an 11-2 final.

Saint John's swept Hamline with a pair of one-run games, 3-2 and 10-9, on Senior Day in Collegeville. The Johnnies chipped away with singles runs in each of the first three innings in game one's 3-2 win, while senior outfielder Joe Lampe cleared the bases with a triple, his fourth of the day, as the home team posted a four-run eighth inning in game two's comeback victory.

Mississippi College bounced back from a tough loss on Friday to sweep a doubleheader and take the series from Texas-Dallas. The Choctaws won the first game, 6-3, and shutout the Comets in the second game, 4-0.

The Choctaws got two outstanding pitching performances from Blake Mcilwain and Jayme Monroe. Mcilain tossed his third complete game of the season, scattering eight hits and three earned runs with two strikeouts. Monroe allowing seven hits and striking out four over eight innings.

Sophomore Nick Eltzroth and sophomore Zach Maier each fired a complete game, as Ohio Northern swept Capital in a doubleheader. The sweep moves ONU into a tie for the fourth and final spot in the OAC Tournament with Baldwin Wallace.

Gallaudet won the first game, 8-7, with Keuka in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off run in the seventh inning at Hoy Field. The Bison then lost the strike zone in the second game and the Storm won, 10-2, in seven innings in the NEAC doubleheader.

Carroll and Beloit split a Midwest Conference doubleheader hosted by the Buccaneers. The Pioneers claimed game one, 5-3 but Beloit earned the split with a 3-1 victory in game two.

On a day in which Endicott honored eight players from their senior class, the Gulls also swept CCC and North Shore Cup rival Gordon in a conference doubleheader to move one day closer to securing the top seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament. Even with a split in tomorrow's regular season conference finale at Nichols, Endicott will win the regular season title.

Berry defeated Rhodes 3-2 in a SAA Tournament game. In a pitcher's duel, Rhodes sent out their star pitcher Blake Glauben against Berry's Ryan O'Connell. Neither earned the win as Joey Bell relieved O'Connell in the eighth inning with the game tied and earned the win when the Vikings scored a late run.
