In a clash of teams ranked in the top 10 of the latest D3baseball.com rankings, 9th-ranked Wooster proved to be too much to handle for the 7th-ranked Heidelberg. The Student Princes dug an early hole and were never able to dig out, falling 16-8 on a cold and windy day in Ohio despite rallying for seven runs in the 9th inning.

No. 3 UW-Whitewater tallied 31 runs and mashed 34 hits Wednesday en route to a two-game sweep of 11th-ranked UW-Stevens Point in a WIAC doubleheader in Stevens Point, Wis. The Warhawks won both contests by run rule in seven innings, defeating the Pointers 20-5 in game one and by an 11-1 count in the nightcap.

An RBI-single by Stevenson senior Frederick Casper in the bottom of the ninth gave the Mustangs a 5-4 walk-off win over Penn State Harrisburg in a non-conference contest at Park Field. On the eighth pitch of the at-bat, Casper lined a 3-2 pitch from Troy Taber into left to score Matt Alcantara from third.

Pomona-Pitzer scored five times in the first two innings and went to capture an 11-1, seven-inning win over Whittier to maintain its share of first place in the SCIAC. Senior shortstop Sam Fox singled and doubled in each of the first two innings to extend his hitting streak to 26 games before coming around to score both times, while sophomore center fielder Tanner Nishioka capped off the Pomona-Pitzer scoring with a grand slam in the seventh to enforce the SCIAC's 10-run rule.

MIT overcame an early deficit to Western New England with a four-run fifth inning and then held on to take a 5-4 non-conference win at Briggs Field over the Golden Bears. Senior Parker Tew had a pair of doubles and two RBI to lead the Engineers.

Second-ranked Frostburg State pushed its winning streak to 12 games with a 5-2 victory over Hood. Following their CAC title win, the Bobcats still have two weeks of regular season baseball left and kicked off that stretch in winning fashion. FSU jumped out to an early lead as seniors Zach Weiss and Nick Walker went back-to-back with their third and fifth home runs of the season.

Sophomore Eric Vrissis went the distance and allowed just six hits and one earned run while striking out a career-high eight as Coast Guard beat Emerson 7-2 at Victory Field to secure a berth in the NEWMAC tournament. The Bears locked down the fifth-seed and will play at fourth-seeded Babson on Friday.

A strong pitching performance by junior Julian Clarke and a seven-run seventh inning by the offense lifted Washington University to a 13-1 win over Iowa Wesleyan at Kelly Field. Leading 4-1, Washington broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh, sending 12 batters to the plate to score seven runs on eight hits.

Wheaton (Mass.) defeated Eastern Connecticut State, 25-3, in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at Sidell Stadium. Justin Silvestro finished the day going 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI, while sophomore Zachary Goodwin-Boyd went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Today's 25-3 win for the Lyons matches the third-highest run total in a single-game in program history (three other occasions).

The Spartans, bolting into a tie for third with Anderson, used a strong starting pitching effort from senior Sean Liedtky and a pair of home runs from senior third baseman Jordan Nieman to top Defiance 9-3. MU's fifth successive win left them just a half-game behind second-place Rose-Hulman and only trailing league-leading Bluffton by a game.

Mitchell upset Wesleyan (Conn.) by a 5-3 final in a non-conference showdown. Ryan Goodwin went 2-for-3 with three RBI and knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to put Mitchell on top for good. Neftali Arroyo added a solo homer in the ninth for insurance, but Domenick Giaramida didn't allow a hit in 2.0 innings of relief to secure the win.

Jake Craft hit a three-run home run to propel Anderson University to a 6-2 victory over DePauw University Wednesday. With the win, Anderson swept the four game series, outscoring the Tigers 35-7.

Castleton opened its home-and-home series against Lyndon State by capturing its fourth straight victory with a 14-3 decision over the Hornets at the Skip Pound Complex. With the win Castleton has now won 12 of its last 14 games.

Carthage defeated non-conference opponent Aurora, 5-3, at Joe Bernard Field at Solfisburg Park. Carthage's Jared Helmich extended his school-record hitting streak to 29 games with a single up the middle in the fourth inning.

Freshman Logan Sullo's three-run walk-off homer with two outs in the bottom of the seventh lifted Mass-Maritime to a 7-6 nightcap victory and a sweep of a MASCAC doubleheader from Framingham State. The Buccaneers also took the opener in walk-off fashion, as sophomore Jonah Olsen scored on a two-out error in the bottom of the seventh for a 4-3 triumph. The host Buccaneers jumped into sole possession of second place in the MASCAC standings with the sweep and presented Head Coach Bob Corradi with his 575th career victory in his 43rd and final season with the nightcap triumph

The Washington and Jefferson Presidents took advantage of 14 hits, six walks and five errors in a 13-1 win over Grove City at Ross Memorial Park. With the win, Washington & Jefferson sweeps the season series against the Wolverines.

In his first collegiate start, freshman Steve Witkowski looked like a seasoned veteran as he pitched seven scoreless innings, and allowed only two hits to earn his first win as a Beacon as UMass Boston defeated Lesley by the final of 9-4 at Campanelli Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Wisconsin Lutheran nearly overcame a 7-2 deficit against Division I opponent Milwaukee by scoring three runs in the ninth, but the Panthers held off the Warriors 7-6 in an intracity matchup at Henry Aaron Field.

Roger Williams pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the 13th inning to edge the Mass-Dartmouth 5-3 at Paul Walsh Field. The Hawks won for the seventh straight time ad stopped Mass-Dartmouth's win streak in extra-inning contests.  

New York University defeated SUNY Maritime 9-1 at home at MCU Park in Brooklyn. The Violets began with a three-run offensive spurt in the home half of the first inning and never trailed the Privateers at any point en route to the eight-run victory.

Junior left fielder Joe Yankee went 3-for-4, falling a double short of the cycle, to lead the Rhode Island College to a 14-5 non-conference victory over Springfield.

Sophomore Paul McDonough went 4-for-5 with three RBI to lead Southern Maine to a 7-5 win over the visiting Colby at the USM Baseball Stadium. McDonough had a double and three singles, scored twice and snapped a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning with a two-run double. Juniors Nick DiBiase and Sam Dexter had two hits apiece hitting in front of McDonough. The first three batters in the Husky lineup accounted for eight of the team's 15 hits.
