Ozarks pounded out 14 hits and got hits from eight different players en route to an impressive 14-3 win over Hendrix Tuesday.
Ozarks scored three times in the first inning, highlighted by a Justin Crider two-run double. Hendrix countered with a sacrifice fly to score their first run in the fourth inning. The Eagles would add four more in the fourth and then explode for seven in the fifth. The Warriors would scratch out two ninth inning runs to end the scoring.
Bates put a scare into the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens with a late rally but could not quite complete the comeback in a 7-5 defeat Wednesday afternoon. Trailing 7-0 in their season-opener, Bates came storming back in the eighth inning against Pomona-Pitzer. Bates found themselves down just 7-5 and Pomona-Pitzer called on Simon Rosenbaum to pitch. Rosenbaum stopped the rally and retired the side in the ninth to earn his first save of the year.
The Howard Payne coaching staff had decided before the game that they would use the midweek outing as an opportunity to give some of the Yellow Jacket bullpen experience. HPU would use 11 different pitchers with none throwing more than one inning to claim an 11-7 victory over McMurry.
