Junior Cody Thompson allowed two hits in five scoreless innings, and sophomore Jeff Butler belted a three-run homer as tenth-ranked Randolph-Macon blanked RPI 7-0 in the opener of a three-game series on Hugh Stephen Field at Estes Park. Thompson walked three and fanned five in picking up his second win for the Yellow Jackets. SThree sophomores finished the shutout.
Centre opened the 2017 campaign with a pair of victories over Coast Guard at Perfect Game USA in Emerson, Ga. The Colonels earned triumphs of 23-3 and 8-2 over the Bears, marking the first career victories for first-year head coach Drew Briese. Centre exploded for 23 runs with 19 base hits in the first game of the doubleheader paced by freshman first baseman Seth Hagan's 4-for-4 performance at the plate. Hagan finished with a home run, five RBI, three runs and a walk to lead the Colonels at the plate in the opener. Hagan led the Colonel offense again in game two, going 3-for-4 with a run batted in and three runs scored.
Senior Brock Podgurski recorded a multi-hit day and senior Mike Occhi earned the win in relief as Kean improved to 2-0 with a 4-1 win over Gwynedd Mercy in their home opener. Occhi tossed four and two thirds innings of shutout ball with seven strikeouts and just one hit and one walk.

Roanoke found the ninth inning to their liking with 11 runs scored over a two game set with Greensboro. Roanoke scored nine runs in the ninth inning to rally from a seven run deficit and take a 10-9 win over Greensboro in game one. Cody Shell had a two RBI double in the ninth inning broke a 3-3 tie and sent Roanoke to a 5-3 win over Greensboro.

Stevenson jumped on Penn State Abington early with five runs in the top of the first en route to a 12-0 blanking of the Nittany Lions at J.P. Riddle Stadium. Kevin Kopas went 2-4 at the plate with three RBI with John D'Aquanno and Jordan Moore also recording a pair of hits as the Mustangs outhit Penn State Abington 9-4.
Rocco Wilcox went three-for-three with two triples and scored five times as Guilford downed visiting Bluefield State, 9-1, at McBane Field. Guilford starter John Todd tossed seven strong innings and earned the win. He scattered seven hits, allowed one run, struck out five and allowed one walk. Logan Jones and Brody Holloman both threw a scoreless inning in relief for the home team.
For the second straight game, No. 6 Birmingham-Southern had a home run in Striplin Field. The Panthers used a big third inning to defeat Concordia (TX) 8-2. BSC has now won three straight and are currently 2-0 at home. Preston White hit a two-run homer to left in the second inning to open scoring. He went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Stephen Himic earned the win after going five innings and only giving up one run.
Frostburg State rallied from a four-run deficit for a 6-5 walk-off victory against Rutgers-Newark at J.P. Riddle Stadium. Junior Colton Sivic hit the walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth to complete the Bobcat comeback. Frostburg was kept off the scoreboard through six innings, but rebounded with one run in the seventh, four in the eighth and one in the ninth. Frostburg has won three games in a row, while Rutgers Newark was handed their first loss of the young season.
It took only 90 pitches for Tyler Wolfe to shut down McMurry's offense in the rubber match of this weekend's three-game series as Belhaven shutout the War Hawks, 3-0, at Smith-Wills Stadium. Wolfe, in his second career start with the Green and Gold, allowed seven hits and strikeouts each on 90 pitches in the complete game shutout.

Senior Jackson Weeg was masterful setting an Emory single-game school record with 18 strikeouts as the No. 4 Eagles remained perfect on the season, defeating the Washington & Lee University Generals, 7-3, at Chappell Park. With his performance, Weeg moved into sole possession of sixth place on Emory's all-time career list with 245 strikeouts.
The No. 16 Shenandoah opened up its season Saturday by sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Misericordia. Shenandoah was a 5-4 winner in the opener before finishing off the sweep with a 6-3 victory in the nightcap. Sophomore Zach Teeple was the game two winner on the mound. Teeple allowed three runs on four hits in 4.0 innings before turning over to senior Tyler Hott for the final six outs. Hott allowed only a single in the sixth while striking out two to earn his first save. Sophomore lefty Matt Burns earned his first collegiate win in game one in relief of Colin Moore outs. He allowed one unearned run and struck out three.
Chapman took two one run decisions from Redlands, winning game one 8-7 and the second 3-2. Gavin Blodgett led the Panthers in game one, going 3-for-5 with thee RBIs. Tyler Cook was the offensive star in the nightcap with a three hit performance of his own, netting an RBI and two runs scored.
After a pair of weather postponements, Mary Hardin-Baylor opened the 2017 season with a pair of games at the Clements Fluids Classic in Tyler. UMHB split those games, topping Centenary (La.) before falling to No. 20 Texas-Tyler in a pair of one-run games to go 1-1 on opening day. The Cru opened the day with a 1-0 victory over Centenary and closed out the day with a 6-5 loss to tournament host Texas-Tyler.
The Bruin offense led the way, as George Fox opened Northwest Conference play against Lewis and Clark, taking game one 10-6 before weather postponed game two. The second game is moved to Sunday with game three to follow at Morse Athletic Complex in Newberg. Sam Swenson had himself a day at the plate going 4-5 and driving in one. Andrew Reichenbach knocked in three RBIs with his second inning home run, and Jalen Drath and Kyle Esquerra both added two RBIs.
Marymount opened up the 2017 season on the right note, taking a twin bill over Averett, 3-1 and 11-4. A three run third in game one was enough offense for Collin Bazemore who earned the victory on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings for three hits, one earned run, two walks, and four strikeouts. The second half of the twin bill played much closer up until the final inning when Marymount put away seven runs to bolster an 11-4 advantage to head into the final three defensive outs.
