Chapman fell 13-8 to Concordia (Wisc.) at Hart Park. The Falcons strung together 12 hits and capitalized on five errors and five walks to earn the victory. Concordia scored 11 runs in the first three innings to take an early lead that Chapman would struggle to rally back from.
Beloit hit a bit of a bump in their season-opener but got past it with a seventh-inning rally to defeat New Jersey City 7-6 at the Chain of Lakes Stadium. The Gothic Knights pulled to within a run in the eighth before Christine recorded his first career save, stranding the potential tying run in the ninth.
University of the Ozarks senior Patrick Clifford was up to bat with two outs, two runners on, and the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth when he delivered a walk off three-run homer to secure a 6-3 victory over No. 23 Texas Dallas. The Comets, 12-0 winners in games one, were deied the weekend sweep.
Scranton rode the strength of an eight-run third inning to defeat fourth-ranked Keystone, 9-5, at Stevenson University in part of the Charm City Classic. The Royals were led by junior infielder Justin Howell, who went 3-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI. Senior outfielder Anthony Simone had two hits, a run and an RBI, and junior outfielder Tommy Trotter singled, doubled, scored a run and drove one in.
The Killer B's were at it again bringing the Milk Jug magic as Piedmont toppled #16 LaGrange 7-5, thanks to a grand slam by Tyler Burdette in the fifth inning. The Lions were ahead 2-0 in the fifth before Burdette's homer made it 6-0 and provided the winning hit for Piedmont as the sophomore recorded his first homerun of his career. It was a quiet game in the early going as neither team recorded more than two hits in an inning until the Lions' offense went off in the fifth inning with six runs on five hits and one error.
Rowan scored six runs in the fifth inning to come back and win 7-5 at Randolph-Macon. Righthander Brad Machinski was the winning pitcher in relief. He threw five innings, scattered five hits and gave up one unearned run. Righty Nic Phelps took the loss. He went 4.1 innings and allowed six earned runs on five hits.
No. 11 La Roche earned their first sweep of the year with a pair of victories against Northwestern (Minn.), 10-3, 9-7. Regis Sauer was great in gamoe one in his second start this year. Sauer earned his first win of the young season by tossing 4.2 innings allowing only 1 run, on 2 hits while striking out a pair in the 10-3 win. In the nighcap, Luis Navedo become the Redhawks all time home run leader when he left the yard to deep left field in the third, as the Redhawks cameback from an early deficit.
It took extra innings, but Wesley picked up a come-from-behind 7-6 victory in 10 innings over the St. Joseph's (Brooklyn) Bears. Will Barton led the Wolverines with a three-hit day while Chris Seibert and Michael Piccirillo also added two hits in the victory. Trey Mears stole four times while scoring twice. Alex Marrs pitched the ninth and tenth frames to pick up his third win of the year. Marrs struck out three and only surrendering a walk and an unearned run.
Cortland scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to wipe out a 1-0 deficit and the nationally second-ranked Red Dragons went on to defeat Frostburg State, 6-3, at the Baltimore Invitational. Cortland will play host Johns Hopkins Sunday at 11 a.m. The Red Dragons were originally scheduled to play three games at the tournament, but weather issues forced a moved of the Hopkins game to Sunday and a cancellation of Sunday's originally scheduled game versus Scranton.

Trailing 3-0 to top-ranked Emory, Millsaps rupted for nine runs in the fourth inning and went on to shock the No. 1 Eagles, 17-4, to hand them their first loss of the season. The nine-run uprising was highlighted by a three-run home run by senior Joseph Stearns (that put the Majors into the lead.
New York University came from behind for the second straight game as they rallied to defeat Rutgers-Newark 13-11 at MCU Park in Brooklyn. NYU repeated its performance from Wednesday's season-opening victory over John Jay as it once again tied the game with a big seventh inning before taking the lead for good in the eighth. Senior Jarret Weiss, who came in to pitch the eighth inning, has now earned the mound win in each of the squad's first two games this season.
Illinois Wesleyan opened its 2017 season with two one-run wins over Loras and Grinnell in games played at Lenz Field Jacksonville, Ill. Freshman Jake Stewart rapped a bottom of the ninth walk-off homer in the opener. The Titans downed Loras 7-6 and defeated Grinnell in 12 innings by a 6-5 score.
Freshman John Brinkman laced a bases clearing triple in the fifth to deep left field that put No. 20-ranked Washington University up for good in a 14-7 victory over Luther in the opening game of a three-game series at Kelly Field in St. Louis. Brinkman was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a pair of runs scored in the victory. WashU recorded 15 hits and broke open the game with six runs in the fifth. Washington improved to 3-2 on the season while handing the Norse their first loss of the year. The Bears have exceeded 10 hits in four of five games and scored more than 10 runs in each of their victories.
Junior pitcher Tommy Parsons tossed a two-hit shutout, and senior Ryan Dorow and freshman Brady Wood both hit solo home runs, as Adrian concluded its spring break trip with a 3-0 win over Transylvania. Parsons allowed just two singles and struck out a career-high 15 batters while facing just two over the minimum. He did not issue a walk.
Sewanee eclipsed their win total from a year ago by claiming victory to the first two games against the Earlham, 6-2, 12-11, at historic Montgomery Field. Starter Drew Mancuso continued his success on the mound by tossing a three-hit complete game in the opener and the Sewanee bats carried the day in the second.
Cody Brown struck out 11 earned a 4-0 complete-game win in the opener and Daniel Williams hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs in a 15-6 series finale victory as the Texas-Tyler Patriots swept Belhaven in an afternoon doubleheader and a three-game American Southwest Conference this weekend at Irwin Field. The Patriots earned the sweep with its three starting pitchers Ryan Cheatham, Brown and Cason Adams combining for 27 strikeouts and each earning wins, while Gunnar Quick and Trenton Buchhorn led the team with five hits during the sweep to start an 11-game home stand.
The Denison bats erupted for 17 runs on 14 hits in the Big Red's 17-2 season-opening victory over Manchester at VA Memorial Stadium. Phil Papaioannou and Evan Flax both finished with two hits, four RBIs and two runs scored, while freshman Vince Walker also went 2-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base.
Southwestern swept a doubleheader to claim the weekend series with East Texas Baptist at Woods Field. The Pirates won the opening game of the day 11-7 and clinched the set with a 9-8 victory in the nightcap. Southwestern, which snapped a seven-game losing streak, hit three home runs and collected 27 knocks in the two games.
Ohio Northern opened its 2017 season with a 13-3, 3-2 sweep of Grove City at Lake Myrtle Park. Junior Jason Burkett and sophomore Luke Klinehoffer each had five base hits on the day to lead the Ohio Northern offense. Burkett also added a solo home run for the Polar Bears. Juniors Jordan Bostater and Hayden Shenefield added four hits apiece for ONU.
