No. 2 Shenandoah opened up its ODAC slate Sunday afternoon by splitting a doubleheader with Lynchburg. Shenandoah was a 9-8 winner in the opener before LYnchburg was a 13-4 victor in the nightcap. Junior Nick Goode gave SU the game one victory with a single up the middle with no outs in the bottom of the ninth to score pinch runner Jefrey Silvestre from third. In game two, Lynchburg erased a 2-0 deficit with a four-run fifth and extended its lead by getting into the Shenandoah bullpen for nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits and four walks in 4.1 innings.
Freshman pitcher Anthony Brophy picked up his third win of the season and lowered his earned run average to 0.95 as the ninth-ranked St. John Fisher capped its time in Florida with a 9-1 win over No. 18 Marietta at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. Brophy held the Pioneers scoreless over 7.0 innings of work and allowed eight hits while striking out three before being relieved by Allen Murphy in the eighth inning. Murphy worked a scoreless inning with a strikeout while preseason All-American Loukas Brigham pitched the ninth and surrendered one run on one hit with a pair of strikeouts.
Preseason All-American Zeph Walters pitched seven strong innings and delivered the game-winning RBI as Stevens defeated Johns Hopkins, 3-1, to open its annual Spring Break Trip. Freshman Shaye Bartnick had an RBI double and senior Michael Mule' plated a run with a groundout for Stevens, who evened its record at 4-4-1.
Marietta als0 fell to Susquehanna, 10-0. The Crusaders scored a run in the top of the first and then added two in fourth, three in the seventh and four more in the ninth. While the River Hawk offense was banging out 10 hits, freshman pitcher Bobby Grigas was frustrating the Pioneer hitters.
Spalding defeated 25th-ranked Concordia-Chicago, 7-0. Kyle Olliges picks up his fourth victory, while Keaton Conner was hit with the loss. Olliges dominated the Cougar lineup from start to finish, throwing a complete-game shutout, surrendering just six hits while striking out ten on 111 pitches. Jeff Thompson led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two triples and five RBI. Dillon Sievert went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, and run scored. Blake Patterson was 2-for-4 with a double.
Endicott registered a marquee win on day one of their 2017 RussMatt Invitational schedule down in Central Florida by defeating No. 6 Ramapo by a score of 6-1 in game one of a doubleheader. Game two had to be cancelled due to heavy rain, thunder, and lightning that rolled through Chain of Lakes Stadium at the conclusion of game one. Just like he did a week ago versus Salem State, Gulls sophomore righty Kevin Gould turned in a strong performance on the bump with five scoreless innings and six strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the season. Gould scattered six hits and walked just one Roadrunner batter in his outing. Graduate student Nick Quattro, went the final two innings and surrendered one run in the top of the seventh to solidify the win.
Amherst totaled 19 runs and 16 hits in their 2017 season opener, as the Purple & White clinched a commanding 19-9 victory over fouteenth-ranked Keystone in Port Charlotte, Fla. Opening the season in impressive fashion, Amherst outscored the Giants, 10-1 through the first three innings before tacking on two runs in the fourth, a run in the fifth, four runs in the sixth and two runs in the eighth to secure the 19-9 victory. Max Steinhorn led the Purple & White at the plate, notching a game-high three hits, plating four runs and finishing the contest with three RBI.

Sophomore righty Jordan Muchin pitched effectively against no. 17 Oswego State for the second time in as many career starts and senior leadoff hitter Pat Sirois recorded the second four-hit day of his career as Eastern Connecticut State University opened the 2017 season with an 11-6 victory at Chain O' Lakes Park. Muchin, who did not allow an earned run and did not figure in the decision in his final start last year against Oswego, outdueled Oswego sophomore lefty Brian Nolan, who had pitched a complete-game shutout late in last year's regional tournament. Muchin allowed five runs (four earned) and seven hits with three strikeouts and just one walk in six full innings, departing with a 10-5 lead en route to his sixth career win in seven decisions. Eastern roughed up Nolan and four subsequent relievers for 15 hits. Ten of the team's runs came in three consecutive innings beginning in the third, with a five-run fourth snapping a tie and putting Eastern in front for good, 7-2.
Senior Jeff Ronpirin's pinch hit two-run single with one out in the bottom of the ninth lifted Emory to a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over Piedmont at Chappell Park in Atlanta. Ronpirin's walkoff capped off the Eagles' five-run rally over the final two innings to move Emory to a perfect 11-0 record at home. Senior Wilson Morgan and freshman Richard Brereton led off the inning with back-to-back base hits before sophomore NJ Kim reached on an infield single to shortstop with one out to load the bases. Ronpirin then stepped to the plate in lieu of sophomore James Pittinger. On the second pitch of the at bat, Ronpirin drove a grounder back up the middle that took two hops, the second of which was a favorable bounce over Piedmont's Griffin Olson's glove and into centerfield. Morgan scored the tying run easily from third with Brereton right on his heel. Piedmont's Brady Ballstadt's throw from center was in time but Brereton jarred the ball loose with a collision at the plate and touched home plate to give Emory the victory.
A combination of well-timed hitting and clutch defense helped lift the 22nd-ranked Pacific Lutheran Lutes to two wins against Northwest Conference rival Pacific, completing the three-game sweep over the course of the weekend. The Lutes pounded the Boxers 13-3 in the opener before securing the 4-2 win in the nightcap. The Lutes are now sitting comfortably in first place in the Northwest Conference with a record of 10-2 in conference play.
