The warm weather of Florida appears to be having quite an effect on The Scranton Royals' offense. Scranton racked up 16 hits in a 17-9 win over Gallaudet on the second game of the team's spring break trip. Scranton was led by junior outfielder Tommy Trotter, who went 5-for-5 with a triple, two doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored. It was the first five-hit game of Trotter's career. Junior designated hitter Chase Standen also had a triple, a double and drove in five in the victory.
MCLA stormed back from five run deficits in the seventh inning of both ends of the doubleheader as the Trailblazers walked off in game one 6-5 and then stunned Olivet 11-8 in the nightcap to sweep a doubleheader from the Comets. MCLA was aided by six errors committed by Olivet to one for the Trailblazers in the two game set. With the wins, the Trailblazers even their mark at 2-2 while Olivet is still in search of their first win as they are 0-7.
William Paterson salvaged a split during a seven-inning doubleheader with St. Norbert at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational, winning the night cap by a 6-4 score after falling 4-1 in eight innings during the opener. ig innings led to wins in bith games. A three-run eighth inning allowed the Green Knights to take a 4-1 game-one victory while a four run third paced the Pioneers.
Wheaton (Mass.) earned its first win of the season with a strong 8-2 performance over St. Scholastica (Minn.) in game three of the RussMatt Invitational at Lake Myrtle Park. Brady Furdon got the start and the win for the Lyons, striking out eight and surrendering just four hits in seven complete innings. First-year Paul McGeehan and Jimmy Gowen both came in in relief with Gowan closing out the game with three strikouts in 1.1 innings of work. Martin Alcoverde took the mound for the Saints, facing 24 batters in six complete innings, striking out 13.
Behind a pair of impressive pitching performances, Christopher Newport earned a doubleheader sweep, 2-1 and 4-2, at Marymount in CAC action. Both of the CNU starting pitchers put together strong showings against the Saints. In the first game, senior Michael Thomas whirled his fifth consecutive superb start, improving to 3-1 after the win. Thomas tossed 8.0 innings and struck out eight, while giving up just one run. He allowed only five hits, including three in the fifth inning when Marymount struck for their only run of the game. In the second game, Logan Harrelson put together a career-best performance against the Saints. He struck out a career-high 10 batters in 6.0 innings of work, while giving up just two runs.
Salisbury swept its CAC opener defeating St. Mary's (Md.) by scores of 16-5 in game one and 2-1 in game two. Jeff Oster lead the way on the mound as the pitching staff was solid throughout the day to help the Sea Gulls open up CAC play 2-0. Oster finished the game going seven innings, allowing just five hits, and one run while striking out 10 of the 26 batters he faced. Brad Keith and Pete Grasso were exceptional throughout game two combining to go all nine innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out 12 batters.
Edgewood started the Gene Cusic Collegaite Classic with a sharp performance. The Eagles scored seven unanswered runs in the first five innings and held off a late Dubuque rally for an 8-5 victory at historic Terry Park. Jonathan Roehler had three hits, including his first home run of the season.

Arcadia recorded a pair of victories to start its spring break trip to Florida, posting a 5-4 walk-off win over Denison before defeating Anderson by a final count of 10-3. The Knights entered the eighth inning down two runs, drew even in the eighth and Luke Hohenstein's single ended the contest. In game two Joel Bartoni pitched well in picking up his first win of the season. He gave up two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts over his seven innings of work, while Nick Roda allowed one run on three hits with two Ks over the final two frames
Berry earned their first shutout of the year, as the Vikings defeated Centre 5-0 to take the series, two games to one. J. T. Eggert earned the win on the mound for Berry, tossing five innings in the outing. Eggert allowed only one hit, while striking out four batters.
For the second straight season, Suffolk used a walkoff run to take down Montclair State. This time it was sophomore Kevin Higgin's bat that brought in the winning run in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Rams to a 10-9 win as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. It took three runs over the eighth and ninth inning for the Rams to even up the score to force the extra frames. The three straight victories in the first three games of the season are the first for the Rams since rattling of six triumphs in a row in 1985.
Wesley split a CAC doubleheader with the Frostburg State Bobcats. The day started positive for Wesley as they batted around in the first inning, leading to a 11-7 win. It was a closer affair in the second game as both teams traded leads and finally Frostburg State ended the game in the 13th inning for a 5-4 victory.
Texas Luthern took two games from the University of Dallas, 3-1, 11-0. The Bulldogs received a pair of complete game outings by starters. Dallas was topped in a two-run defeat in the postponed matchup from last night, and then blanked in seven innings to wrap up the weekend. Cade Killingsworth pitched a gem in game one, striking out nine in just as many frames. He scattered six hits and only allowed a run. Dylan Drgac earned the game two win by tossing seven complete innings and limited the opposition to four baserunners. He struck out six.
Ithaca began its spring trip in dramatic fashion as the Bombers mounted a five-run ninth inning comeback to defeat Pomona-Pitzer, 10-8, in Claremont, Calif. Andrew Bailey paced the offense with a 3-for-4 day at the plate with a double, triple, two runs and two RBI. Freshman Christian LaLomia earned his first collegiate victory in 0.2 innings pitched with a strikeout. Sophomore Jake Binder started the contest for Ithaca and went 3.2 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits with a pair of punch outs.
Hood's Nate Luscombe threw a complete game four-hitter as the Blazers opened their spring break trip with a 7-1 victory over Lancaster Bible. A sophomore, Luscombe struck out 10 and walked just one. All four hits he allowed were singles. He retired 17 straight batters until a runner reached with two outs in the ninth. But he struck out the final batter of the evening to finish the complete game.

Patrick Maybach struck out 11 batters during his collegiate debut in a nine-inning, complete-game shutout over Rochester Tech.

Freshman left hander Patrick Maybach came within one out of a no-hitter in his first collegiate outing, finishing with a complete-game 3-0 victory for Salve Regina against Rochester Tech. Maybach struck out 11 Tigers, including the first two batters he faced in the top of the ninth inning, to move one out away from a no-no. Will Gorman singled up the middle on the first pitch he saw to break up the no-hitter; Brett Kajganich followed with a single down the right field line before Maybach ended the game with a flyout to right center.
Sophomore Brandan McNerney threw a complete game shutout in leading the Rensselaer to a 10-0 victory over Plattsburgh State at Chain O'Lakes Park. McNerney allowed just two hits in 7.0 innings, striking out nine and walking two. He did not allow a hit after the third inning.
Alvernia closed its spring break trip with a doubleheader sweep of Defiance winning game one 7-1 before a 6-4 win in game two. Sophomore John Catchmark went six innings in game one allowing just one unearned run on one hit with eight strikeouts. Ben Dubas was 3-for-3 at the plate in game one with two runs scored and Dillon Dunne and Ethan Francis both drove in two runs apiece. Sophomore Nicholas Marotta got the start--and the win--in game two going four and a third innings allowing two runs on four hits. Michael Griffin struck out the side in the seventh for the first save of his career.
Jamie Cooper and Jack Brancheau had a field day as the Occidental bats lit up the scoreboard for 31 runs in two wins over Southern Vermont at Anderson Field. Cooper hit a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, going 4 for 5 with eight RBIs and three runs scored in a 20-0 win over Southern Vermont in seven innings in game one. Brancheau was good in both games, going 4 for 7 on the day, with six RBIs, a home run, a double and two runs scored. His homer and double both came during an eight-run bottom of the fourth inning that brought Oxy back from a 5-1 deficit and ignited the blow out in game two.
Senior Nick Daniele went 2-for-4 with four RBI's, three runs scored, a triple and a double as Centenary earned its first victory of the season with a 14-5 defeat of UMass-Dartmouth. Freshman John Fleck went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a triple for the Cyclones who improve to 1-4 overall. Taylor Cacciola went 3-for-3 with a homerun for the Corsairs.
Matthew Nelson and Ryan Bird each had big two run hits to lead visiting Whitworth to a 5-2 Northwest Conference win at George Fox, and a series sweep of the Bruins. Bird finished the game 3-4 at the plate, getting almost half of Whitworth's eight hits.
