Babson and Wheaton (Mass.) split on Saturday

No. 15 Shenandoah University continued its winning ways by sweeping an ODAC doubleheader from the University of Lynchburg Saturday afternoon. Shenandoah (19-5, 13-3 ODAC) was a 2-0 victor in the opener before rallying past Lynchburg (21-10, 11-4) for a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.

Senior Jordy Allard tossed eight shutout innings in the opener to help No. 9 Babson College split Saturday's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference doubleheader with 19th-ranked Wheaton College at Govoni Field. The Beavers took game one 3-0 before suffering a 7-4 loss to the Lyons in the back end of the twin bill. Babson is now 5-1 overall and in conference play, while Wheaton improves to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC.

Baldwin Wallace split a pair of games with No. 5 nationally-ranked Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader on Don and Sue Schaly Field. Marietta (17-3, 15-2 OAC) won the first game in 10 innings by a final score of 7-6. BW (13-8-1, 10-5-1 OAC) rallied in the ninth inning to take the nightcap by a final score of 11-7.In game one, BW scored six runs on 10 hits as it plated two runs in the third off the homerun from senior All-American center fielder Dudley Taw, one in the fourth and three in the seventh, including two on the triple by junior left fielder Drew Wilson. The Pioneers scored seven runs on 15 hits as they pushed two runs across the plate in the first, one in the third, two in the eighth and one in the ninth and one in the 10th.

The North Central Cardinal pitching staff stymied the Carthage College offense on Saturday, as the North Central College shut out the Firebirds by scores of 5-0 and 7-0 on Saturday in the series opening doubleheader at Augie Schmidt Field. Game one was a pitcher's dual between Jason Shanner and Keith Kutzler through five innings, before the Cardinals opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. After nine innings of neither team allowing a run in game two, patience finally prevailed for North Central in the top of the 10th, as four walks, a hit by pitch and two big hits plated seven runs to steal away the sweep.

No. 1 Washington University won a pair of games over Spalding on Saturday, 7-1 and 3-2 in 11 innings. Senior Ryan Loutos had another dominant day at the mound in game one, earning his seventh win of the season. He recorded 12 strikeouts for the fourth time this season. In the night cap junior Andrew Huang hit the walk-off home run in the 11th inning to clinch the Bears' 3-2 win. It was the first homer of his collegiate career.

Coe College completed a series sweep of Simpson College on Saturday afternoon, knocking off the Storm 16-5 in game one and 5-4 in game two. The Kohawks put up 15 hits and a season-high 16 runs in game one while winning in walk-off fashion in game two to finish the sweep of Simpson. The sweep moves the Kohawks to 22-3 overall and 18-2 in the American Rivers Conference while Simpson falls to 7-15 overall and 4-12 in the league. Coe racked up double-digit hits in both games, totaling 26 on the afternoon while picking up six extra-base hits. Riley LeGrand led the squad with five hits at the dish while Jordan Kaplan, TJ Johnson, Isaac Evans, Jacob Henry, Creighton Kreshel and Tyler Elliott all had multiple hits in the games. Kaplan and Johnson had a team-high four RBI, as Kaplan drove in four runs in the opener. Game one starter, TJ Deardorff earned his fifth win of the season, improve to 5-0 with six innings of work while surrendering just two hits and three runs.

Illinois Wesleyan University rallied for a doubleheader sweep of Augustana College Saturday at Horenberger Field. The Titans (15-11, 10-8 CCIW) upended the Vikings (18-5, 10-5 CCIW) with 9-4 and 9-6 wins. Senior Hunter Simon got the start and tossed the first eight innings, striking out four. Senior Cooper Kraft threw a scoreless ninth, striking out one, in relief. Seniors Colin Pfotenhauer, Joe Prestamer, and Kraft combined to locked down the second win and sweep.

Ryan Murphy and Ryan Mostrangeli each hit solo home runs and the Profs got strong pitching performances from Eli Atiya and Donald Zellman as #17 Rowan (11-3; 9-1 NJAC) swept second-place William Paterson (16-5; 7-3) in an NJAC doubleheader, winning 6-0 and 8-3. In the doubleheader, Murphy was 4-for-8 with two runs, four RBIs, a double, triple and home run. Chris Curcio went 5-for-8 with a run and RBI, and Ryan McIsaac went 4-for-8 with three runs scored. "It was a great job today by our team, bouncing back after a tough loss yesterday (to Rutgers-Camden). William Paterson is a very good team and tough to beat, especially twice. We pitched well and had timely hits in both games today," said head coach Mike Dickson.

Birmingham-Southern rallied after a tough start to the weekend at Berry College, as the Panthers split the final double-header of the season at William R. Bowdoin Field on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings took game one of the twin bill, 11-3, before BSC (22-13, 14-10 SAA) rebounded to take a resounding 10-2 victory in the regular season finale. Jack Flemingwas one of four Panthers with two hits in game one, and he also belted a homer - his third of the season. He added two hits in game two, including a double, and he also walked and scored two runs in that game. In game one, a five run fourth and four fun fifth game the win to the Vikings. The games mark the end of the regular season for the Vikings and Panthers, who will qualify for the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Baseball Championship, April 22-24, at State Mutual Stadium in Rome, Ga. - home of the Rome Braves, the High-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

In a rematch with Antelope valley, Cal Lutheran baseball came up just short and lost 2-1 on Saturday afternoon. It was a pitchers dual as the offenses only accounted for five hits and one earned run. Mason Snodgrass was on the bump for the Kingsmen and pitched 5.1 innings. He struck out five batters, gave up just three hits and the one run due to an error. Snodgrass was replaced by Zach Hardman who gave the Kingsmen a fighting chance as he went the rest of the way. He struck out two batter, allowing zero hits and one run in 3.2 innings.

No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater extended its active win streak to nine games Saturday with back-to-back victories over UW-Platteville in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium. The Warhawks (17-2 overall, 11-1 WIAC) hung on for a 4-3 triumph in Game 1 before scoring five unanswered runs in the nightcap for a 5-2 win.

Adrian saw its 14-game winning streak snapped by Calvin after a rally fell short in the first game of a doubleheader, but the Bulldogs rallied in the nightcap to take a 7-6 walk-off victory in 10 innings in thrilling fashion at Nicolay Field on Saturday. After today's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader, the visiting Knights are now 12-10 overall and 7-5 in the MIAA. Meanwhile, the nationally No. 20-ranked Bulldogs now stand at 20-6 on the season and 14-1 in the conference. The second game of the twinbill was a different story, however, as Adrian rallied from a 5-1 deficit to clip the Knights in extra innings. With the score tied 6-6 and facing a 1-strike count, junior Kevin Cardentey delivered an opposite field single through the right side to plate Peck from second base with the winning run. Peck led off with a single to center and then advanced on a sacrifice bunt by senior Thomas Miller.

The 10th-ranked Washington & Jefferson College baseball team didn't allow a run over 16 innings and ran its record to 22-0 with a pair of victories over Chatham on Saturday afternoon. The W&J Presidents defeated Chatham 8-0 in game one and 7-0 in game two. W&J moves to 17-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play while Chatham falls to 6-14, 5-11 PAC. Starting pitchers Henry Litman and Tyler Horvat each earned their fifth wins of the season in strong outings. Litman allowed three hits and struck out six in six shutout innings. Horvat tossed a three-hit, nine inning complete game shutout, and established a career high with 10 strikeouts.

After picking up two run-ruled wins in eight innings here Friday, No. 4 ranked Webster swept a doubleheader from Greenville University late Saturday evening at Robert E. Smith Field. Webster used a five run fifth inning to rally from a 2-0 deficit to post a 6-4 win in the first game and then held off a late inning rally by the Panthers to win 6-5 in the nightcap that ended right before midnight. With the two wins, Webster improved to 23-5 overall and 18-2 in the SLIAC and extended its win streak to five straight, while Greenville fell to 4-21 overall and 4-12 in the SLIAC. The Gorloks have now swept three of its five SLIAC series this season and have won three out of four games in the other two series' against Westminster and Spalding.

No. 18 Centenary swept a doubleheader over the St. Thomas Celts in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play, winning 12-3 in game one and 10-0 in eight innings in game two on Saturday at Shehee Stadium. St. Thomas fell to 14-12 overall and 3-11 in league play. Centenary is two games in the loss column behind SCAC leader Texas Lutheran and Trinity (Texas). The Gents will face both teams in the final two weekends of the season.
