North Central explodes in extras, Babson rebounds on Saturday

Opening the Snowbird Baseball Classic against Babson, North Central (Ill.) scored all 10 runs in the final three innings of play, sparked by a John Michael Scumaci two-run home run in the eighth inning, to beat the Beavers 10-3 on Saturday. After a single and a walk in the bottom of the ninth, Nolan Shannon entered the game looking to hold Babson scoreless. The Beavers used a sacrifice bunt to send the runners to second and third. Babson lined into a double play as King caught the line drive and stepped on third to send the game into the tenth inning. In the tenth , the Cardinal hung an eight spot on the Beavers and made a tight game a run-away. Babson got a strong start from senior Anthony St. John in the Beavers second game of the day, defeating Denison 7-4. First-year Ryan Hvozdovic doubled and homered and drove in four runs in the win for the Beavers. Junior Brant Savage also had a double and an RBI and senior Michael Cook had a single with a run scored and a run batted in. St. John earned his first win of the season (1-0), working eight innings and allowing just two earned runs on seven hits and a walk, striking out six. Sophomore Luke McClintock closed out the game in the ninth inning after giving up a run on two hits and a walk, fanning one. No. 11 Denison also got a win on the day when they defeated Mitchell 10-6.

Castleton finished its Alabama trip with matchups against MUW and Edgewood Saturday, taking a 5-4 victory over the Owls before a 16-12 setback against the Eagles in the afternoon. The Spartans (4-6) got five RBIs from Kannon Dush while Tyler McLain and Evan Keegan collected hits in both contests. Hunter Perkins drew four walks on the day with a hit and two RBIs. Dylan Hedler had a breakout showing as the sophomore went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. The squad tied its 2022 home run total on Jack Boyle's first career bomb. Riley Orr struck out 14 in a seven-inning start against MUW (2-8), earning the win in game one. Six different hurlers saw action in game two, led by Zack Marlow who tossed the final two frames with no runs, one hit, and three punch-outs.

No. 1 Birmingham-Southern defeated Emory 4-2 for the second day in a row and collected their fourth win of the week to sweep their competition on the week. The Panthers extend their win streak to 15. A difference of 14 runs from the day before, the Panthers scored two runs late to take and keep the lead picking up back-to-back victories against the Eagles. Josh Leerssen started on the bump for the Panthers and threw 5.2 innings, allowing four hits while striking out six hitters. Connor Adams came on in relief and pitched the final 3.1 innings sriking out five, allowing just four hits and one unearned run. Cam McNearney had another spectacular day at the plate hitting his fifth home run in as many games in a 2-for-5 performance. Ian Hancock and Jackson Webster each recorded two hits in the Panther victory.

It would be a tale of two different games for No. 8 LaGrange (9-5, 0-0 CCS) as they played this weekend. The Panthers were blanked 11-0 by Centenary (6-3, 0-0 SCAC) on Friday and pummeled Westfield State (1-2, 0-0 MASCAC) 20-3 on Saturday. LC scored early and often against the Owls, scoring three runs on two hits in the first before exploding for a whopping nine runs on five hits and a pair of errors in the second. Rhett Mixon cranked three doubles as part of a perfect 5-for-5 day that saw him score four times and drive in four while Joe Ruth was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three runs, three RBIs and two walks.

No. 20 Marietta completed the three-game sweep of No. 17 Cortland in convincing fashion with an 18-2 thrashing of the Red Dragons Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 8-4 overall, while Cortland falls to 5-6 on the season. Marietta jumped on top with three runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Pioneers had 15 hits in the game, including a trio of home runs, as six different hitters had multiple hits in the game. Sophomore Zach Marzetz (1-0) started on the mound for Marietta and worked the first 4.0 innings for the win. He allowed two runs on two hits with six strikeouts. Coley Yeager and Forrest Havanis each tossed 2.0 shutout innings and Braden Shepherd threw the ninth.

Gwynedd Mercy (5-4) played its final game at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational as they came away with a win against Waynesburg (3-5) 10-2. Graduate designated hitter Billy Collins had himself a day at the plate going 3-4 with a game-high five runs-batted-in. Sophomore pitcher Cooper Root earned his first win on the year (1-0) pitching six solid innings giving up only three hits and striking out two.

Russell Sage wrapped up its Florida trip by defeating SUNY Poly 12-2 (8 innings). Sophomore infielder Frank Colletta went 3-for-5 with a run scored and 2 RBI to pace RSC, now winners of four-in-a-row. Trailing early, the Gators batted around in a four-run fourth. Sophomore outfielder Jacob Coonan and sophomore infielder Dom Caminitti drove in teammates with singles during the rally. Up 7-2, RSC tacked on with five runs during the seventh and eighth innings to end it early.

No 12 Lynchburg opens up ODAC play with two wins, 9-3 and 6-5, over Bridgewater on Saturday. The No. 12 Hornets and head coach Lucas Jones started senior Zack Potts on the bump in game one. Potts' six-inning effort kept Bridgewater to four earned runs and awarded him his fourth win on the season (4-0). Graduate student Cameron Lane came around to score three times and had an RBI of his own working from the DH spot. In game two, Nick Mattfield made his fourth start of the season for the Hornets. The junior pitched 4 ⅓ innings striking out five and allowing four earned runs. Down a run in the bottom of the 8th inning, freshman Benton Jones led off for Lynhcburg making his first collegiate at bat. Jones' pinch-hit appearance resulted in his first career hit, setting the table for Brandon Garcia. Garcia drove home Jones with an infield single giving the freshman his 5th RBI of the day and tying the game 5-5. Josh Gjormand singled to center field in the ninth to walk off with a sweep for the Hornets. Graduate student Brandon Pond kept the Eagles scoreless through the 8th and 9th innings and earned his first win of the season.

No. 16 Johns Hopkins returned to the field after two
days off to take on Juniata in a doubleheader. The
Blue Jays came in with a 7-0 record and added to it
with a 7-3 and 9-3 win over the Eagles.

Second-ranked Salisbury flexed its arms early and its bats late on the way to a 14-0 shutout victory over the Moravian Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon at Donnie Williams Sea Gull Baseball Stadium. Kavi Caster homered for the sixth time this season with his eighth-inning grand slam, finishing 2-for-5 with two runs and four RBIs. Ben Anderson batted 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI. Salisbury has now scored at least nine runs in all but two of its 11 games this season, averaging 10.9 runs per contest. Jackson Balzan (3-1) returned to form with seven shutout innings, scattering five hits with one walk and six strikeouts on 94 pitches to pick up his third win of the year. With his 22nd career win, Balzan moves into a tie with Connor Reeves '18 for 10th on the Salisbury all-time leaderboard.

Senior Owen Tappy pitched a complete game victory with seven strikeouts in the first game, while sophomore Christian Lancaster had three hits in the second game, as Hampden-Sydney split an ODAC doubleheader, wining 5-3 but falling 13-6, on the road at defending ODAC Champion and nationally-ranked No. 9 Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon in Winchester. Senior team captain Ryan Boyce had two hits and two RBIs in the 5-3 opener, while junior Ryan Portes took the mound setback in the 13-6 nightcap for the visiting Tigers (7-7, 1-1) against the host Hornets (11-2, 1-1).

Adrian finished up its trip to North Carolina on Saturday. Adrian dropped the first game of the day to Montclair State by a score of 4-2, but bounced back against Maryville winning 6-4. Montclair State broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the eighth on a Ryan McKenna home run to right field and a Sam Angelo RBI double to defeat Adrian 4-2. As in the opener, Maryville took an early lead but Adrian was able to find the offense to win by two. Don Goodes started on the mound for Adrian throwing 3.2 innings allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts. Griffin Firestine earned the win in relief. Lincoln Lipinski and Ryan Davis appeared in relief with the pitching staff combining for 15 strikeouts. Earlier Montclair topped Greensboro 5-3. The Red Hawks' built an early lead but the Pride made it interesting, drawing to within 5-3 in the bottom of the eighth. Reliever Jack Haveseon escaped the jam with a fly-out to center. Haveson set Greenseboro down 1-2-3 in the ninth to finish off the game.

Junior Thorin Sanchez-Guerra went 2-for-3 with an inside-the-park home run and three RBI to help Johnson & Wales cruise to a 14-1 win over La Roche morning in nonconference action at Crossley Field. Senior Miles Kelly registered for hits, drove in three runs, and scored three times for the Wildcats (3-3) while junior Jack Magane drove in two with an RBI single. Graduate student Griffin Snyder, along with sophomores Xavier Botelho and Trevor Juan, all picked up two hits as JWU pounded out 15 hits on the day. The Wildcats led 9-0 after four, highlighted by a two-run home run off the bat of Kelly, a run-scoring double from Sanchez-Guerra, and an RBI single from sophomore AJ Braid. They tacked on five more in the seventh behind Sanchez-Guarra's home run, an RBI single from Kelly, and a pair of unearned runs. Sophomore Ryan Schultz allowed three hits and one run over five to earn the win. He walked a pair and fanned seven.

Methodist returned to its winning ways on Saturday, gaining victories in both games of a doubleheader versus Piedmont. The 19th-ranked Monarchs beat the 25th-ranked Lions 6-5 in the first game and 11-7 in the second game. The Lions took a sizable lead in game one, putting up five runs in the second inning but Methodist would chip away at Piedmont's lead, getting a tie game at 5-5 in regulation. Charles Jordan stepped up to the plate in the tenth and laid down a well-placed bunt that allowed the winning run to slide safely into home for the walk-off victory. Game two was a high-scoring affair, starting with a three-run first inning for Methodist. Piedmont matched that with three runs in the third, including a two-run homer. In the fourth inning, the Monarchs regained the lead with a Wilkerson double that scored two. The seventh inning proved to be a meaningful one for Piedmont, as the Lions took the lead back with three runs in the top of the inning for a 6-5 advantage. However, they would do themselves no favors in the bottom of the inning, recording two errors and allowing Methodist to score four runs without any hits. The Monarchs gave up one run in the eighth but scored two more of their own in the bottom of the frame for good measure, coasting to the 11-7 win.

St. John Fisher are coming to the end of their spring break trip and they took on Immaculata. After scoring early, the Cardinals were able to hold on for a 6-4 victory and move their record to 3-6 on the year. The game started with Noah Campanelli homering and giving the team a 1-0 lead. Nick Lemire then doubled and a was brought home a few batters later when Ben Lavery hit a home run of his own to push the advantage to 3-0 after one inning of play. Connor McHugh got the start and earned the victory, pitching 5.0 innings of ball and allowing three runs that all game in the third inning. Fisher answered right away with a run in the top of the fourth inning thanks to another home run, this time by Dominic Guccia. The two offenses were quiet the rest of the game until the ninth inning. The Cardinals tacked on a pair of insurance runs. Jack Migliore kicked it off with a single and Campanelli doubled to put both runners in scoring position. Brian Norsen was intentionally walked to load the bases a couple batters later, but James Murphy worked a walk to score the first run of the inning. Lavery was then hit by a pitch to score the sixth run of the game. Christian O'Brien earned the save for the Cardinals, pitching 1.1 innings and securing the victory.

Not everything is bigger in Texas, as the Salve Regina Seahawks began their five-game Florida tournament with a 7-3 win over the Texas-Dallas Comets on Saturday at Sanford Memorial Stadium. The Seahawks could not have asked for a better start, and they depended on some grizzled veterans throughout their first game. Matt D'Amato led the Seahawks off with a bloop single into right field, and Tyler Cannoe took the reins: a two-run no-doubter over the left field wall gave the Seahawks a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A few innings later, a Cannoe RBI-single would further extend the Seahawks lead before the Comets would tie it up in a couple innings with a homerun in the sixth. In a 3-3 seventh inning, the Seahawks got scrappy to get a lead and the eighth inning was more of the same as the Seahawks added two more runs for insurance. Graham Jeffries got into the win column, allowing three earned runs through seven innings with a strikeout. Jason Arrigo shoved and got the save with two strikeouts, notably coming into the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded and getting a double-play ball to get the Seahawks defense out of a game-saving jam. The Seahawks notched a true team win on Saturday, scoring seven runs and turning two double plays with the bases loaded.

SUNY Brockport went 2-0 on the day in a doubleheader against Clarkson. This was the first day of the RussMatt tournament down in Orlando Florida. The men won the first game 5-4 and the second 9-3, earning them an overall record of 3-4 so far on the season. Brockport opened an early lead but as Clarkson scored twice in the sixth, they were not able to catch up in time. The Golden Eagles ending the game with a 5-4 win. In a close game, Brockport separated themselves from Clarkson in the seventhwith four runs.

Sophomore Lincoln Lubsen went 3 for 4 with a double, a run and three RBI as the 15th-ranked Randolph-Macon defeated Ferrum 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in the ODAC opener for both teams. The lead was exchanged between the teams until RMC took the lead for good in the seventh. Junior Grayson Bush had a leadoff single, stole second, went to third on a lineout to right and scored on a sacrifice fly by senior Ethan Iannuzzi to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 lead. The Yellow Jackets added two insurance runs in the eighth. Senior Hayden Snelsire fanned nine in 6.0 innings with seven hits and one walk. Junior Cole Snead tossed a scoreless seventh to pick up the win and raise his record to 2-0. Junior Cole Stamm made his fifth appearance and recorded his fifth save, hurling two scoreless innings with one hit and one walk.

New York University split with the Illinois Tech in the Violets' first games of their Spring Break trip to the Sunshine State, playing in Bradenton, Florida. NYU took game one 16-8 thanks to a nine-run bottom of the eighth featuring multiple walks and hit batters before a two-run double from Kosta Mocklis highlighted the offensive output. Nate Pallotta also launched his second home run of the season and is the only Violet to go deep so far in 2023. Ashwin Chona picked up the win on the mound, pitching the final two innings while allowing just one run on four hits and no walks with five strikeouts. The Violets dropped game two 6-4 despite two hits each from Cam Dunn and Nick Argenziano.

Rochester split the final doubleheader of their spring trip against La Verne, bouncing back from a 7-2, game-one defeat to defeat the Leopards in game two, 9-8. In game one, the Leopards would chase the UR starter in the sixth and add two more runs to their tally, extending their lead to 6-0. Rochester finally got its offense going in the eighth, as John Moses led off the inning with a double to right but La Verne had an answer as they got the run right back in the bottom of the eighth on Reese's sacrifice fly, his third RBI of the game, and while the 'Jackets would plate one in the top of the ninth on Colton Avera's groundout, Chase Pederson closed the door for La Verne to give the Leopards a 7-2 victory. Rochester's lineup would heat up for game two though and quickly took the lead with three runs in the top of the first, adding insurance through out the game. The Yellowjackets would need every last one of those insurance runs, as the Leopards scored a pair to pull within two, 8-6, on Ryan Vosika's RBI double, and loaded the bases, bringing the game-winning run 180 feet away from scoring, but Aidan Cooney struck Jarin Ching to leave the bases loaded and help UR escape with the 8-7 victory.

Jackson Halla went seven solid innings, allowing a lone run on six hits as Berry earned a 6-4 victory over Rhodes to close a SAA series in Memphis, Tenn., Saturday afternoon. The sophomore hurler tied his career-high in innings pitched, set last season against the Lynx Apr. 16. In Saturday's contest, the Lynx scored their only run off of Halla on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning. Prior to that, the Vikings had built a 5-0 lead. Ronnie Caricofe led off the game by being hit by a pitch, then stole second. Caricofe moved to third on a groundout, then scored on a Wesley Wade sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Levi Cloud walked, stole second, and then scored on Joey Garcia's RBI single. The Vikings needed just the one hit to score two runs to start the game.

Wilmington split a doubleheader with rival Earlham on Saturday, winning game one 13-2 and falling in the nightcap 8-2. The split gives WC the series victory as the visitors won the series' first game 15-3 in seven innings on Friday evening. In the game one win, Aaron Boster improved to 2-2 on the season, striking out 10 in six innings while scattering eight hits and two earned runs. Luke Chappie pitched up a three-inning save, striking out two and allowing one hit over the final three innings. In game two, Earlham took an early lead and put the game out of reach in the eighth.

Sophomore Anthony Bruno launched a walk off home run over the center field fence in game two to close out Arcadia's sweep over Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom foe, Stevens on Saturday afternoon in Florida. The Knights took both games, 7-6, to improve its record to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in MAC Freedom play. Bruno finished the day with five RBI's. He also had the game-tying hit in the game one victory for Arcadia.

UMass Dartmouth completed their run in the RussMatt Invitational at a perfect 9-0 with two wins over Wentworth (1-9) on Saturday. That marks the best start for a UMD baseball team since the 1994 squad started 9-0. The Corsairs (9-0) won game one, 5-4 in extra innings, and game two, 7-5 in comeback fashion. Both games were played on Henley Field in Lakeland, Florida. After scoring two runs in the first inning of the first contest, UMD allowed four runs in the second inning before shutting out the Leopards the rest of the way. They trailed 4-2 going into the third inning of action. The Corsairs responded with two more run to send the shortened game into extra innings.

William Paterson (4-1) opened the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a 9-3 victory over UMass Boston (3-2). The Pioneers broke the game open in the fifth with five runs on three hits. Dan Carter opened the frame with a single to center and after William Paterson loaded the bases, sophomore Tyler Ruban drove in one on a single before Colin Lombardo plated two more on a double. One more run came around to score on a costly throwing error by the Beacons and the Pioneers extended the lead to seven (9-2). Senior Darmany Rivas improved to 3-0 on the mound after striking out eight and allowing three runs in 5.1 innings of work.

After a wild doubleheader that featured 42 runs, 15 pitching appearances and lasted nearly seven hours, 18th-ranked Christopher Newport pulled away with a pair of wins, 20-9 in game one and 11-2 in game two. The Captains improved to 14-5 with the twin bill sweep, highlighted by impressive individual performances by Jackson Baird (2-1) on the mound and Sam Benedict at the dish. In game one, Benedict drove in six runs and reached base in all six of his plate appearances to lead the Captains' offensive explosion. He is the first freshman to drive in six or more runs since Jon Hurd delivered seven RBI against Southern Virginia on April 7, 2001. In the second game, sophomore starter Jackson Baird struck out 13 batters to mark a new season-high for any Christopher Newport pitcher this season. He joins teammates Jay Cassady and Dylan Weber as the only CNU pitchers to strike out 13 or more in a game since 2019.

Marian (5-3) earned its first shutout of the season defeating Crown 12-0 in seven innings. Marian once again scored in the opening inning when senior Brady Zackrison drove in a run. The Sabres finish the spring trip with a run in the first inning in seven of eight games. Sophomore Gus Walker then scored a run in the second before Marian pulled away with a big third inning. The Sabres would score eight runs in the third on just three hits to go ahead 10-0. Marian drew five walks in the inning and were hit by two pitches. Zackrison closed out the inning driving in a pair of runs with a single. The Sabres then closed out the scoring with two runs in the fifth with one run coming off of another bases-loaded walk. Marian drew eight walks and were hit by four pitches in the victory.

In the wind and light rain, Illinois Wesleyan began the program's spring break slate by taking on Olivet at the USA Complex in Millington, Tenn. IWU's offense exploded in the later innings by scoring ten times in the seventh and eighth to end the team's four game losing skid. The Titans won by a final score of 13-3. With the win, IWU's record sits at 2-6, while the Comets own a record of 0-8. Just four pitches into the contest, the Green and White strung together back-to-back hits by sophomore Jimmy Gurgone and senior Jalen Ping set up IWU with runners on first and third with no one out. A successful pickoff attempt allowed Gurgone to scamper home as the Titans took the early, 1-0, lead after a half inning.

Mary Washington continued its winning ways on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader from Rutgers-Camden, 11-4 and 6-4. The Eagles improve to 12-5, and run their win streak to six straight. In the opener, the Eagles jumped on top with an unearned run in the first and added four in the fifth. Rutgers-Camden scored three in the sixth, but the Eagles got one back in the bottom of the frameand five in the seventh. Junior Brendan McComber gained his fourth win in as many starts, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings, with three walks and six strikeouts, including the 100th of his career. Freshman Ryan Northup collected his first save, after allowing one hit in three scoreless innings, with one walk and four strikeouts.

Beloit used pitching, combined with timely hitting to earn a 5-2 victory against Stockton in the Buccaneers' 2023 season opener Saturday afternoon. Beloit allowed just five hits in the contest and never trailed after the first inning. After Stockton (3-4) pushed across a run in the top of the first to take the game's first lead, Beloit answered with an RBI single in the bottom of that frame by Miles Souza to tie the game, before a sac fly off the bat of Brett Kiger gave the Bucs the lead, a lead they would keep. Aiden Phipps (1-0) earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out five batters in six innings of work. Harvey Pena picked up the save, pitching three hitless innings of relief, while striking out three.

The Wheaton (Ill.) Thunder wrapped up its week-long residency in the Sunshine State on Saturday with a 23-3 rout of Gallaudet to conclude the trip with a record of 3-4 while improving to 4-6 overall on the season. Gallaudet falls to 6-10 on the season with the loss. Wheaton's offense broke out with 23 runs on 27 hits with 16 different players tallying at least one hit in the contest. Jared Kloth earned his first victory of the season with five innings of work while scattering five hits and walking one. Nathan Hedlund earned his first save with 4 innings of scoreless relief while striking out five and allow just two hits.

Behind some solid pitching and timely hitting, Sul Ross State swept Hamline by the scores of 4-3 and 3-1 on Day 2 of the Tucson Invitational at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Lobos have now won six games in a row. It was a classic pitchers duel between Sul Ross State's Gage Cobb and Hamline's Zach Branson in game one that went to the Lobos. Cobb tossed six innings allowing six hits and one earned run with two strikeouts. Aiden Becker came in to notch his first save of the season after he allowed one hit in one scoreless inning of work. "The pitching staff kept us in this ballgame. Offensively, we started off slow. We never had the big inning and the big hits that we needed, but the pitching staff did their job today," Sul Ross head coach Ely Gallego. "Offense today was at a minimum, but we did enough," added Gallego. "Offense isn't always about hitting. It's about executing the bunt, manufacturing runs and they did it."

WPI closed out Spring Break play with two high-scoring splits against Penn State-Abington at the RussMatt Invitational on Saturday. The Engineers (5-5) won game one 16-14, while the Nittany Lions (5-5) grabbed game two, 18-14. In game one, Joe Salvon homered and finished with five RBI, Kyle Johns belted a grand slam, and Jeffrey Brennan notched three hits to lead WPI at the plate. Eric DePiero was the winning pitcher with a four-inning, one-run, and five-hit stat line, while Matt Penkala earned the save, throwing one scoreless inning allowing one hit. For the Nittany Lions, Zach Morales was 3-for-5 with five RBI. In the nightcap, PSU's Montana Milward drove in six runs with a pair of doubles while also pitching a scoreless, hitless ninth inning to seal the win. Josh Baar got the victory on the mound, throwing three innings in relief, allowing five runs (four earned) on three hits. For WPI, Brennan had three hits and three RBI, finishing the day going 6-for-8 with five RBI and seven runs scored.

Washington University defeated Luther, 3-2, on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Field. The Bears are now 7-2 on the season. Luther put up the first two runs of the game in the top of the first inning. After several scoreless innings, the Bears finally got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning. Brandon Buday hit a lead-off triple and Kaden Bernhard drew a walk. Shane Pellegrino hit a single to score Buday and Clayton Miller laid down a sac bunt to advance the runners. Braden Mazone drove in Bernahrd with a ground out to third to tie things up 2-2. Then, Broghan O'Connor drew a walk and Chris Jacinto singles to load the bases. All runners moved up on a wild pitch, scoring Pellegrino for a 3-2 lead. Matt Lopes picked up the win on the mound, going seven innings with seven strikeouts and Kyle Coates picked up his second save of the year with 1.2 innings of relief with two strikeouts.

Messiah's Nathan Stein highlighted a doubleheader split with the York Spartans on a cold Saturday in early March. Stein tossed a one-hit shutout in game one of the double dip as the Falcons earned a 4-0 victory. Game Two had a bit more fireworks with the Spartans earning an 11-9 victory over the Falcons. Despite the split on Saturday, the Falcons won the series after defeating the Spartans 10-6 on Thursday afternoon. At the dish, Evan Wagaman went 3-6 on the day with four RBI and a stolen base while Joshua Ammons went 4-4 in Game Two with a double, three runs scored, and a pair of runs batted in.

Hope turned the tables on Hanover in their rematch. The Flying Dutchmen scored all of their runs between the fifth and seventh innings to earn a 5-3 victory on Saturday at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, after losing, 14-4, on Friday. Hope (3-4 overall) also bounced back from a 5-1 loss to Millikin earlier in the day on Saturday. Against Hanover, Winning pitcher and fifth-year senior Shane Hykin scattered eight hits and three runs over 7 innings to pick up the decision. Against Millikin, the Flying Dutchmen were limited to three hits in the loss.
