The NCAA shook things up and found only four Mid-Atlantic region teams to put in the Moosic Regional. Three of the teams, Misericordia, Kean and Haverford are the cream of the crop from the Mid-Atlantic. Nobody would confuse Penn State Berks with a powerhouse team but they could surprise if their opponent takes them lightly

As the No. 1 seed in the Regional, Misericordia got the best of the draw as Haverford will face a Mass-Boston team that routinely defeated the best teams they faced. It does not get easier for Kean who drew the highest ranked team in the regional, Salisbury. The last matchup is St. John Fisher and Salve Regina, a game between out-of-region teams. The Cardinals should be familiar with the Mid-Atlantic teams as they will take the occasional trip into the region but the opposite is true for Salve Regina.

St. John Fisher advances

Meet the teams

Favorite

Balance but excellence in all phases of the game are what we like in a favorite. Misericordia fits this defintion. A top 40 team in pitching, defence and offense has the Cougars our favorite to win the Moosic regional. As the host team, they should have all their fans backing them up as well as they score well in untangibles too.

Most likely to disappoint

The regional pits two teams with loads of exerience in regional and World Series games. One of these teams, Kean and Salisbury will start off with a loss as they face each other in the first round. Kean has a deep pitching staff and nobody scores runs at the same rate as the Sea Gulls. Unfortunately neither team has both the pitching and hitting and are our pick to disappoint.

Cinderella

UMass Boston has shown us all season ling that they are a team that can win the big game. a 6-1 record against the best in D-III baseball should give them all the confidence they need to surprise their mid nation competition.
