VERONA, Wis. - UW-Parkside scored 13 of their 16 runs in a pair of big innings, and that turned out to be more than enough to defeat Edgewood College on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at Stampfl Field. The NCAA Division II Rangers had seven doubles among their 16 hits to send the Eagles to their second consecutive loss.

After Edgewood College starting pitcher Miles Mayer set the Rangers down in order to start the game, UW-Parkside (9-17) broke through in the second inning. Eight of the first nine batters for the Rangers reached base, accounting for seven runs in the frame, culminating in Corey Stonelake's two-run single to chase Mayer from the game. The Rangers tacked on two more runs in the third before the Eagles got on the board.

Edgewood College (8-14) opened the bottom of the third with singles by Eric Curtis and Treye Dennison. O'Dell then drove home Curtis from third with a ground ball, before Joe Gura singled to right field to bring in Ryan Walker two batters later. In the fourth inning, Walker singled home Curtis, who had walked to make the score 9-3, but that was the last run the Eagles could muster.

Five Edgewood College relievers gave up seven earned runs, including six in UW-Parkside's six innings. Alex Zarek had a two-run double and Mike Anderson, who had four hits in the game, drove in two more with a single.

Dennison and Walker each had two hits in the game. For Walker, it was his team-high seventh game this season with two or more hits. Mayer suffered the loss, giving up six earned runs and falling to 1-3 on the season. The Rangers were led by Anderson who went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in. Starting pitcher Chris Wolcott pitched five innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out three to claim his first win of the season.

Edgewood College will jump back into Northern Athletics Conference play with four games this weekend. The Eagles will host Dominican University at Stampfl Field on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. There will be no videcast of the doubleheader with the Stars. The Eagles will travel to MSOE on Sunday for another noon doubleheader with the Raiders.
