CHICAGO, Ill. – Senior Ryan Walker delivered the game-winning single in the 10th inning as Edgewood College earned a split with Concordia University Wisconsin in the Northern Athletics Conference opening doubleheader for both teams. Walker's winner gave the Eagles a 3-2 victory in the second game, after the Falcons claimed a 5-3 win in game one.

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the 10th, Alex Jaskulski started the rally with a single to right field. Jake Zadra then laid down a perfect bunt and beat it out for a base hit. After Otto Muehlenberg executed a sacrifice bunt to move Jaskulski to third base, Walker rolled a ground ball between the shortstop and third baseman to plate the winning run.

Edgewood College (4-10, 1-1 NAC) opened up the second game by scoring two runs without the benefit of a hit in the first inning. Zach Creekmore reached on an error and advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches by Concordia University Wisconsin (3-8, 1-1 NAC) starter Matt Parrent. After Jaskulski walked and stole second base, Creekmore scored on a groundout by Zadra, and then Ryan O'Dell drove in Jaskulski with another RBI groundout.

The Falcons got a run back in both the fifth and sixth innings. The first run scored on an RBI single by David Enters and the second on a sacrifice fly from Nick Doedens to tie the game and set the stage for Walker's heroics.

Eagle starting pitcher Miles Mayer was outstanding for nine complete innings, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out two batters. Marc Ostrowski pitched the 10th inning to pick up the win. Walker was the only Eagle with multiple hits, going 2-for-5. Concordia Wisconsin pitcher Matt Parrent also threw extremely well, giving up no earned runs and five hits in nine innings of work.

In the opening game, Zadra drove in Creekmore in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game at one. That would be one of four hits in the game for Zadra, matching his career-high. The Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the sixth when Eric Curtis drove in pinch runner Brandon Bartels with a single.

However, the Falcons responded with four runs on four hits in the eighth inning to take a 5-2 lead. The Eagles loaded the bases in both the eighth and ninth innings, but only managed to push one run across the plate, coming on a bases loaded walk issued to Creekmore.

Trevor Koehn went seven solid innings for Edgewood College before running into trouble in the eighth. He allowed four runs on nine hits in suffering the loss. Zadra went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI to lead the Eagles' 12-hit attack. Creekmore and Sean Thompson also had two hits apiece.

Edgewood College will make the short trip to Watertown on Tuesday for a make-up of Friday's rained out doubleheader against Maranatha Baptist. The Eagles and Crusaders will get underway at Washington Park starting at 3:00 p.m.
