10 Run Second Inning Leads Kean Past Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Kean scored 10 runs in the second inning en route to a 12-3 non-conference victory this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Cougars improved to 33-10 with the win, while the Rams fell to 29-10 on the season.

Kean scored 10 runs on eight hits in the top of the second to quickly lead. The Rams got on the board with an RBI single to center in the fourth inning by junior right fielder Terrence Bohonan (Patchogue, N.Y.). Farmingdale State cut the deficit to 10-2 on a sacrifice fly by senior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) later that inning.

The Cougars added two runs in the top of the ninth before the Rams scored one unearned run in the bottom half of the inning.

Kean was led by senior shortstop Steve Sanguiliano (Flemington, N.J.) who was 2-for-5 with a 3-run homerun. Senior designated hitter DJ Breckenridge (Fair Haven, N.J.) was 3-for-5 with a run scored and 3 RBI, while sophomore first baseman Joe O'Connor (Wharton, N.J.) had a hit, three runs scored and an RBI.

Senior pitcher Ryan Zamorsky (Branchburg, N.J.) improved to 9-1 on the year after allowing two runs in four innings pitched.

Farmingdale State next will host the NCAA New York Regional Tournament on May 16-20.
