Moosic, Pa. (5/18/13) – Senior Rob Rogers tossed a complete game, one-hitter to force a winner-take-all championship in the Mid-Atlantic Regional as Keystone College shutout the Kean University baseball team by the final of 2-0.

The win by the Giants (37-9) sets up a Sunday championship final at 1p.m.  Keystone also defeats the Cougars (37-11) for the first time in 17 meetings.

Junior Kevin Catherina started off the game by reaching on a fielding miscue from the Cougars.  A successful sacrifice moved him into scoring position and senior Gabriel Ramirez delivered with an RBI single to center to take a quick 1-0 lead.

No one would realize at the time that that would be the only run until the ninth inning.

The Giants sealed the win with a solo shot to leftcenter in the ninth off the bat of Gabriel Molina.

The Cougars only managed only one hit off Rogers, who was making his second start of the tournament on two days rest.  Rogers (10-2) allowed just one hit all afternoon with seven strikeouts and three walks.  Freshman Michael Kendall picked up the lone hit in the sixth inning.

Lost in the loss was the determined pitching performance from sophomore Dan Hansen.  Hansen (3-2) allowed just one earned run in the ninth.  He tossed a complete game, the first of his collegiate career, allowing just six hits and two walks.  He struck out three.
