Rams Fall in Single Game at Mount Saint Vincent

Game 2: Postponed due to rain


Bronx, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team fell, 4-1, in a single game against Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon at Van Cortland Park. The second game of the Skyline Conference doubleheader was postponed due to rain.

In the bottom of the third, the Dolphins (8-9, 3-0) took a 1-0 lead on an RBI sac fly by senior center fielder Josh Sharpe (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.). Mount Saint Vincent went ahead 2-0 in their next at-bat as senior first baseman Jason Rivera (Bronx, N.Y.) hit an RBI single.

The Dolphins added a run in the fourth and fifth inning to extend their lead to 4-0.

Farmingdale State (10-4, 2-1) scored their only run of the game in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by freshman second baseman Andrew Karkota (Manorville, N.Y.).

Junior right fielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) was 2-for-4 at the plate for the Rams.

Senior pitcher Brian Rush (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) earned the win after allowing one run on five hits in 7.1 innings of work.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Purchase for a conference doubleheader on Sunday, March 30th at noon.
