MEQUON, Wis. – The Edgewood College Baseball team opened NACC play with a statement, going on the road to sweep Concordia University Wisconsin on Friday. The Eagles rallied for a 6-5 win in the opener before a convincing 12-4 win completed the sweep in the nightcap.

EAGLES 6, FALCONS 5
- Edgewood College (8-5, 2-0 NACC) trailed 5-1 after three innings of play, but rallied back for a 6-5 win in the opener. Trailing 5-4 heading into the top of the ninth, the Eagles took advantage of some four free passes in the ninth inning to tie the game at 5-5. That set the stage for Adam Cairo, who delivered a go-ahead RBI single with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth, plating Alex Prindle for the 6-5 lead.

- The Eagles tied the game when Connor Goodwin was hit by a pitch with his team down to their final strike. Cairo then came up next and delivered the single, his fourth hit of the game.

- Conner Dunfee was in charge of finishing the Falcons (6-10, 0-2 NACC) off in the bottom of the ninth, and while Dunfee made things interesting, he did his job for his first save of the season. The Falcons threatened by loading the bases, but Dunfee induced a ground ball to third to end the game, securing the 6-5 win for the Eagles.

- Ben Collier got the win in relief for the Eagles, delivering two shutout frames. Eric Nelson got the start and allowed five runs, three earned, but he settled in nicely, pitching three shutout frames from the fourth through sixth before Dunfee took over. The Eagles trio combined for five strikeouts and five walks.

- Cairo led the way at the dish with four hits, including the go-ahead single. Kyle Semrad added two hits, including a double, while Ryan Ambrosy tripled. Max Hoeser drove in a pair of runs, including an RBI single in the eighth.

EAGLES 12, FALCONS 4
- The Eagles bats were the story in game two as Edgewood College plated 12 runs, 10 of those from the fifth inning on in a 12-4 win. Edgewood College had big innings in the fifth (three runs), sixth (two), and seventh (three) to break open what was a 2-2 tie heading into the fifth.

- Goodwin and Carson Richter were the stars in game two, each player finishing 5-for-6. Goodwin paced the Eagles from the top of the lineup, scoring four runs, while doubling and drive in two. Richter drove in four runs, including a two-run single in the fifth.

- The run support was more than enough for Semrad, who allowed four runs, but just one earned in 5.2 innings to secure the win. Garrett Redner continued his strong 2022 campaign with 2.1 scoreless frames, while Will Mossa struck out the side in the ninth for Edgewood College.  Five of Redner's seven outs were strikeouts and Semrad added five punchouts as well as the trio combined for 13 compared to just one walk.

- Alex Prindle and Kyle Sagan each added two hits at the plate with Prindle and Joseph Kalafut doubling. Sagan drove in three runs, while Prindle added two RBI. Ambrosy scored twice for the Eagles.
