CNU pitchers struck out 19 Pacers as they opened their season with a walk-off win in extra innings over William Peace. The NWC was the offensive leaders as Whitworth scored 18 and George Fox got 20 as both opened their seasons with thunder.

The Captains set a new program record for runs scored in an NCAA Tournament game and will return to the Regional Final for the second straight year.
Braley struck out eight, tying his career high and marking the most in a postseason game in over 20 years for the Captains. Most impressively, Braley did it over 6.1 innings of work after being forced into the game due to an injury with two outs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Captains improved to 31-8 behind a sparkling pitching performance by senior Dylan Weber and a pair of mammoth home runs from seniors Justin Bowers and Alec Reilly.
TYSONS, Va. -- Playing at Capital One Park in Northern Virginia, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team earned a weekend sweep over Mary Washington (26-12, 0-3) in Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference action and picked up the program's 30th win of the season. The Captains downed Mary Washington, 5-2, and are now 30-7, reaching the 30-win plateau for just the seventh time in program history.
All seven 30-win campaigns for the CNU baseball team have come under head coach John Harvell, who collected his 600th career victory earlier this season. In all six of the previous 30-win seasons, the Captains advanced to NCAA Tournament play including three Division III World Series appearances. This season, the Captains reached 30 wins in just 37 games, tying for the second fastest mark since 2012 when the top-ranked CNU squad started the year 30-6. In 2019, CNU was 30-5 and in 2011 the Captains opened the year with 30 wins in a program record 33 games.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Picking up the first conference win of the season while improving to 29-7 overall, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team secured an 11-2 Senior Day win at Captains Park. Thanks to a decision to move first pitch up an hour, expected rain never arrived as the Captains were able to cruise to the home victory on a sunny Saturday afternoon over the Eagles, who fall to 26-11, 0-2 this year.
Home runs were the name of the game last week, as this week’s NCBWA Div. III Hitter and Rookie of the Week combined to hit eight and drive in 33. A two-hit nine-inning shutout claimed the Pitcher of the Week for games played April 10-16.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- On a beautiful Spring afternoon at Captains Park, a crowd of over 200 witnessed one of the finest pitching performances in program history on Thursday afternoon as Christopher Newport senior Dylan Weber hurled an historic two-hit shutout against Virginia Wesleyan University (5-22-1). Weber faced just one batter over the minimum against the Marlins, setting a program record for the fewest batters faced in a complete game effort, while striking out 12 as he led the Captains to a 10-0 win at home. The nationally-ranked CNU baseball team improved to 27-7 overall this season behind their ace on the mound.

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Exactly 28 years ago to the day, the Christopher Newport Captains set a program record with 28 runs scored in a win over Maine-Presque Isle on April 4, 1995. On Tuesday, the nationally-ranked CNU baseball team made history by matching that program record for runs scored in a game with a 28-4 win over Eastern Mennonite on the road.
The Captains improved to 25-7 overall this season while tying the near 30-year old record with the offensive explosion and set a new mark for the most runs driven in with 27. The game was shortened after the seventh-inning due to the mercy rule.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Picking up the program's fifth shutout of the season, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team improved to 24-6 after blanking Pfeiffer University (3-13) on Tuesday afternoon, 6-0. Jack Braley, Kyle Lewis, and Danny Checkosky combined for the six-hit shutout as the Captains tied the 2018 campaign for the second most shutouts in a single season.
Braley continued his incredible run on the bump for the Captains, improving to 3-0 on the season with his scoreless outing of the season. He tossed seven strong innings against the Falcons on Tuesday, running his scoreless inning streak to an impressive 18.1 consecutive innings without allowing a run. The junior right-hander moved into a tie for seventh all-time at CNU with the shutout streak, matching Mike Cosby's roll during the 2005 season.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Becoming just the second head coach in the history of Christopher Newport athletics to compile 600 career victories, John Harvell led the Captains to a 12-1 win over Gallaudet University (3-5) on Tuesday afternoon as CNU improves to 10-1 on the season. Harvell ranks in the top-50 all-time in career winning percentage by improving to 600-291-3 for a winning mark of 67.3 percent, picking up the milestone victory in just his 894th career game.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripts took two from No. 7 Chapman but hey were just one of five teams that defeated Top 10 teams on Sunday. Babson, Christopher Newport, Rose-Hulman, Washington and Jefferson were the others with wins against the Top 10 team in the nation.

Weber struck out six and kept the Etta Express off balance all afternoon while the offense scored eight runs in the sixth to blow open a big win at the D3 Showcase, 10-0.
Friday ECSU started their title defense with two wins. JHU opened their season with a shutout win over Cortland and a win over Wittenberg in their own invitational. In the D3 Showcase, CNU stayed unbeaten and Rochester bounced back from a loss to drop Marietta.
