Junior Charles Thielmann tossed eight innings allowing one earned run with nine strikeouts as the third ranked Kean Cougars opened the 2014 season with a 10-4 win over Baruch. Sal Taormina led the offense with a 1-for-4 day and four RBI.

Mary Hardin-Baylor kept its season opening hot streak alive as the Cru rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Howard Payne in Brownwood. UMHB posted 17-3 and 8-6 victories to improve to 4-0.

Trinity (Texas) swept a three-game baseball series with the Southwestern Pirates by winning a doubleheader at Rockwell Field. Trinity (8-1) shut out Southwestern 9-0 in the seven-inning opener, and then won 17-5 in an eight-inning run-rule game.

Clayton Truex paced the Linfield offense with a three-run homer while Chris Haddeland threw eight scoreless innings as the top-ranked Wildcats got back to their winning ways with a 6-2 victory over St. Martin's at Roy Helser Field.

Wesley rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat Keystone, 9-8, at Ty Cobb Ballpark as part of the Floyd Wilcox Memorial Tournament.  The Wolverines  took advantage of six errors by No. 17 Keystone.

Salisbury earned their second win of the season with their 12-5 win over Cortland.

No. 13 Salisbury took the first game of a two-game set, 12-5, over No. 10 Cortland State at the SU Baseball Field. After getting off to a slow start, starter Dan Fein picked up his second win of the young season. The left hander from Southbury, Conn., gave up three runs, all earned, on seven hits. Fein struck out six while walking two batters.

Lynchburg showed it likes to hit at the Liberty Baseball Stadium, posting 25 runs in two games against Oneonta State, dropping game one 5-4 before winning game two, 21-12. Lynchburg's 4-0 record coming into Saturday's doubleheader was the best start for the Hornets since starting the 1995 campaign 4-0.

Marymount hosted its first games of the season, splitting a doubleheader against visiting McDaniel.  The Saints dropped the opener 4-0 before using a Ben Berczek walk-off home run to down the Green Terror in the nightcap.

Chapman completed a three-game sweep in a weekend SCIAC series with visiting La Verne with a pair of wins, 16-4 and 10-1 at Hart Park. Chapman outscored La Verne 39-9 in the three-game series. The Panthers have now won five straight games, all in conference

Despite the second complete game of junior pitcher Connor Dillman's career and three-hit efforts from three Eagles, Emory could not muster a run as Methodist defeated Emory 1-0 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Three Methodist pitchers combined on the shutout, with Travis Johnson going 5.1 innings in relief to earn the win.

Two weeks after they were supposed to begin their season, Pacific could not have been more happy to be in the big skies of Texas as the Boxers split their season-opening games at Schreiner's Mountaineer Field. In their opener, the Boxers received a strong return to the mound from TYler Kotchik as they rolled past Schreiner 11-3.  In the nightcap, a balanced Lewis & Clark offensive attack was overpowering in an 8-5 neutral site loss to the Pioneers.

Messiah split two games with Mary Washington to open the 2014 season. In the first game the Falcons rallied from an early deficit and earned a 7-4 win. In game two the Eagles drew a ninth-inning, bases-loaded walk to literally walk-off over the Falcons 4-3.

Rowan score five runs in the first five innigs and held on to a 5-2 win over Randolph-Macon in their season opener. Catcher Stephen Petriello led the Profs with three hits.

Franklin scored nine runs in its first three innings for a season-opening 10-3 victory over St. Joseph’s(Brooklyn) at the RussMatt Classic from Auburndale, Florida. The Grizzlies built s 9-0 advantage by scoring three runs in the first inning, adding four runs in the second frame and having two runs in the third inning. Senior Scott Windler led the offensive attack, going 2-for-4 with four runs batted in.

Bridgewater (Va.) improved to 4-0 on the season with a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Mount Saint Vincent. The Eagles won the opener 8-2 and took the second game 10-1.
