It was a little hairy at times but Hamline swept St. Olaf, 9-8 and 6-2, at CHS Field to move within a game of first place in the MIAC. Zach Smith earned a pair of wins in relief for the Pipers. In the first game, he was the beneficiary of Rick Tormey's game winning single in the last of the seventh. In the nightcap, he was the second of five pitchers used, allowing just one earned run in three innings of work.

No. 6 Wisconsin-Whitewater defeated Carthage 2-1 at Prucha Field in Whitewater, Wis. The Warhawks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Carthage's Brandon Hrdlicka and UW-Whitewater's Heath Renz dueled away until the seventh, when the Red Men got on the board with a single run.
Solid pitching and timely hitting fueled Saint John's to a doubleheader sweep of No. 11 St. Thomas, 4-1 and 8-7 in 10 innings in Collegeville. The sweep of the Tommies was the first for SJU since 1998 and the first at home since 1993. The Johnnies have now won each of the last five meetings with St. Thomas on the diamond going back to last season. Three Johnnie pitchers combined to hold UST to a .190 batting average (11-for-58) on the day, including .154 (2-for-13) with runners in scoring position. The Tommies entered the doubleheader batting .326 but were 3-3 in their last six games.
Mary Hardin-Baylor rallied late but could not overcome four multiple-run innings as Texas-Dallas left Belton with a 15-10 victory. Nolan Smith led the Comets at the plate with four hits and four RBIs.
Catholic earned its 17th win of the season with a 25-7 victory over St. Mary's (Md.). In 50 at bats, the Cardinals recorded a season high 27 hits against the Seahawks, bringing 25 runners home with 24 total RBIs. Catholic's leadoff hitter, senior John Palladino, led the Cards with four RBI's including a 3-run homer over the left field wall in the fourth inning. In his first at-bat, Palladino was hit by his 14th pitch of 2016, moving up to 7th in the NCAA DIII in HBP.
Mitchell overcame a four-run deficit and used a six-run seventh inning to post an 11-5 victory over Coast Guard Academy at Dodd Stadium. Garet Griffin went 3-for-5 with three RBI to lead the Mitchell offense. Eddie Santiago picked up the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Alfred State continued to roll with a 8-3 victory over Fredonia. The Pioneers now have won nine of their last ten games. Brady Sass picked up another win on the mound. He allowed six hits and no earned runs in seven innings of work to improve to 4-4 on the season. He walked two and struck out four. Kyle Kuzma allowed two hits and no runs in the final two innings.

King's (Pa.) scored once in the first inning, then added the final run of the game in the fifth as the Monarchs posted a 2-0 victory over host Penn College at historic Bowman Field.
Earlham used a 10-run third inning to defeat Bluffton 17-2 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action. Earlham tallied the 10 runs on six hits and three Bluffton errors as 14 Quakers batted in the inning.
Sophomore right-hander Devon Sheward made his first collegiate start something to remember. Sheward handcuffed the visiting Defiance Yellow Jackets to five hits over six and a third frames, striking out two and allowing only two free passes. Meanwhile, he received plenty of support from the Spartans' offense, helping lead Manchester to concluding a regular season series sweep of Defiance behind a 9-4 victory at Gratz Field.
Hardin-Simmons Sul Ross State, 17-11, in a slugfest at Christensen Stadium in non-conference action. The wind was blowing out to center and right at around 35 miles per hour to start the game and both teams took advantage of the friendly hitting conditions. Cody Berryman led the Cowboys with three hits and he drove in five.
Misericordia used a five-run sixth inning to open up a seven run lead and held on for a 10-7 victory over visiting Keystone in non-conference action. The Cougars lift their record to 26-10 on the season with the win while the Giants fall to 23-8 this spring.
After the Lancaster Bible pitchers stole the show in Saturday's doubleheader sweep of Keuka, the hitters took their turn on Tuesday as the Chargers hit eight home runs and cracked 35 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Summit. Lancaster Bible won game one, 22-3 and took a rain-shortened game two, 12-1 in five innings. The victories, the fourth and fifth in a row for the Chargers, propel the team to a 20-14 overall record
An RBI double by junior David Scott in the bottom of the eighth gave No. 4 Birmingham-Southern the go-ahead run to edge Belhaven, 10-9, at Striplin Field. The Panthers ended their regular season with a three game series with Rhodes looming this weekend to decide the SAA tournament title.
Junior relief man Nick Jerolimov entered the game with Brockport down, but quieted the bats of Rochester as he fanned eight batters in five and two thirds innings pitched in route to the Golden Eagles 8-6 victory. Brockport and Rochester each finished the game with 14 hits apiece.
