Junior pitcher Daniel Greaves notched the win, throwing six innings while allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts, as the Rhode Island College Anchormen posted a 10-2 victory against Becker at Pontarelli Field on Wednesday afternoon. RIC was led by junior center fielder Brad Douglas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, three RBI, two walks and three stolen bases. Junior right fielder Shaun Vigeant went 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI, while freshman shortstop Romy Morel also had two knocks.
Sean Getman hit a go-ahead three-run double as part of a four-run eighth inning as Cortland rallied to win its home opener versus SUNY Polytechnic, 5-3. The Red Dragons, ranked first nationally by the ABCA and second by D3baseball.com, improved to 17-3 with the win. Down 3-1, Cortland started its comeback with a Jack Massa leadoff, pinch-hit double, a walk and infield single to set up the table for Getman.
Trailing 5-3 heading into the top of the ninth, Suffolk turned in four runs thanks to a double from Kevin Higgins and a two RBI triple off Brady Chant's bat to secure a comeback win at Salem State. Behind relief arm Chuck Gibson Suffolk took care of business, retiring the Vikings in order, including a strikeout looking, to secure the non-conference victory.
The No. 4 ranked UW-Whitewater opened its home schedule with a two-game split against St. Scholastica in a non-conference doubleheader at Prucha Field at James B. Miller Stadium. The Warhawks started the two-game set by extending their win streak to eight with a 10-2 triumph before falling against the Saints 10-8 in 11 innings in the nightcap.
No. 1 Shenandoah equaled the best start in program history with a 10-3 ODAC win at Eastern Mennonite. Shenandoah matches the 2011 team with its 19th win in 20 games; that team was also the last SU squad to be ranked No. 1 in the nation. Coach Kevin Anderson's squad scored three runs in the first, one in the third and two more in the fourth to take a commanding lead over EMU. the Hornets banged out 17 hits in the win, with eight of nine starters hitting safely and four: Tristan Baker, Dan Cameron, Jake Loew and Michael Cruz, getting three hits each.
Down to its last out in the 9th trailing 12-5, University of Dallas charged back with eight-straight batters reaching base to come-from-behind and win 13-12 over Dallas Christian. Nicholas Hovde pinch hit to start the huge ninth and made an out. The home Crusaders batted around and the freshman dropped a deep hit ball just fair down right field and legged out a game-tying triple. On the very next pitch, he scored the game-winning run on a passed ball that allowed UD to dogpile a third time on the campaign from a walk-off.
SUNY Old Westbury returned back to their winning ways Wednesday with a 10-7 home win over the Manhattanville Valiants in non-conference action from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. With two outs in the eighth inning, Kevin Lao worked a bases loaded walk off reliever Jarret Oehler to plate home Matos before Sheridan (2-for-5, 4 RBI, 2 SB) broke the game open with a three-run double to score Russo for the game-winning run to take a 10-5 lead into the ninth.
Deon Hammond drove in three runs to help the Virginia Wesleyan defeat Methodist, 8-4, in non-conference action. The Marlins opened a 8-0 lead and Methodist ran out of innings as their comback bid fell short. Randy Neisz went 2-for-2 in the game with a run scored. He extended his hitting streak to 26 games dating back to last season.

Endicott defeated Southern Maine, 10-6, in non-conference action at North Field. Colby Morris earned the win in his first career start on five-plus innings pitched, three hits, three runs (one earned), two walks, and two strikeouts. Nick Quattro closed the door over the final four innings for the Gulls to collect his third save of the season. Quattro yielded five hits, three runs (all earned), and one walk alongside a game-high five punchouts.
Salisbury took on CAC opponent Wesley College in game two of the two-game season series between the teams. The Sea Gulls defeated the Wolverines 7-5 on to earn the series sweep. Wesley jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom half of the first inning but Salisbury rallied back behind the bat of Jack Barry. Barry totaled three RBI and three hits including one double and a home run.
Gwynedd Mercy tied nationally-ranked Alvernia, 10-10, after the game was called due to darkness after the 10th inning. Four Griffins collected a pair of hits on the day. Ryan Keen drove in a pair of runs while also scoring a run. Dave Tatoian extended his hitting streak to 12 games while driving in a run and scoring a pair. Shaughn Wright drove in a run, scored a run, and stole a pair of bases while Justin Curtin added a run as well.
Penn State Behrend opened AMCC action sweeping Hilbert, 7-3 and 8-2. Scott Sada had a huge day for the Lions, going 6-for-8 from the plate on the day. The sophomore second baseman recorded five RBIs and three doubles.
SUNY New Paltz enjoyed a doubleheader sweep of host Bard, defeating the Raptors 8-3 in game one followed by a 4-2 victory in game two at Honey Field. The Hawks enjoyed eight runs on 12 hits as 10 student-athletes notched at least one hit as New Paltz took the opener. Trailing 1-0 after two innings, the Hawks plated four in the fourth and held on for the game two win.
Oglethorpe found themselves behind 12-3 in the middle of the fourth inning at Anderson Field. They didn't give up, though. On the contrary, they emphatically fought back, outscoring the visiting Piedmont Lions 17-4 the rest of the way en route to a wild 20-16 victory which improved the Stormy Petrels to 13-11 on the season.
Tufts junior Mike McLaughlin hit a two-run double in the bottom of the first inning giving the Jumbos a lead they would not relinquish in an eventual 8-2 victory against Massachusetts Maritime Academy at the New England Baseball Complex. The Jumbos finished with 12 hits as all nine starters had at least one. Senior outfielder Oscar Kutch hit his first home run of the season while going 2 for 4 with three runs scored.
McDaniel rallied from a 12-3 deficit to defeat Hood 16-12 in 10 innings in non-conference action. Tim Griest led the Green Terror with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, adding four RBIs and four runs scored that included a double and his first career home run. Josh Gall led the Blazers with three hits and three RBIs.
Salve Regina improved to 11-2 on the season with a 7-4 non-league victory over visiting Framingham State at Reynolds Field. Salve Regina has now won six straight this season, fourth in a row at home, and fourth straight in the all-time series with Framingham State. The Rams still hold an 8-6 edge in the all-time results.
Muskingum scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to stun 6-ranked Wooster, 4-2. The Muskies made the best of their five hits on the day, scoring their first two runs with two outs in the innings.
A dominant relief outing from senior Caleb Myers punctuated an impressive come-from-behind win in CAC action, as the Christopher Newport won at Mary Washington, 9-5. The Captains picked up their 11th straight victory as senior Keith Roberts blasted a go-ahead home run in the top of the 8th inning and Myers struck out five of the six batters he faced in finishing off the Eagles.
