Christopher Newport added to its win streak on Saturday, sweeping York (Pa.) 11-0 and 12-6 to make it 13 in a row. CNU now has posted the third longest win streak in program history. The Captains won 26 consecutive games in 2011, setting the standard, and also won 14 in a row in 2002.
Elmira recovered from a one-run loss in the first game of a doubleheader and belted a season-high 20 hits en route to a blowout victory in the second game of the afternoon against Houghton. Although the Soaring Eagles scratched across three runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 4-3 lead, the Highlanders responded with two runs of their own the secure a 5-4 walk-off victory in the first matchup. On the other hand, late game was all Elmira from the start, as Elmira recorded season highs for runs and hits in a 20-6 throttling of the hosts from Houghton.

Junior Brandon Eck and senior Cory Ferguson combined for six strikeouts over nine innings, and Manchester's offense took advantage of some late-inning heroics to win its series opener 5-1 at Bluffton. Eck, in route to his first 2017 victory, kept the host Beavers off balance throughout his seven and a third frames of work, surrendering nine hits but being nicked for only one run. Dyson Bowman, his starting counterpart, was a difficult test for the Black and Gold, as he K'ed 13 and gave up only three hits over seven strong innings.
Fontbonne opened SLIAC dvisional play on the road at Eureka where the Griffins shutout the Red Devils in game one 3-0 and took down the hosts 10-5 in round two. Levi Earnest got the start in Game 1 and allowed just one hit over six innings of work on the mound. Joey Clemente came in to pitch the final inning as he earned his first save of the year. The Griffins recorded 18 hits in the Game 2 win and led 7-0 before Eureka scored five runs in the third and fourth innings. Leading 9-5, Fontbonne secured their final run in the top of the seventh.
Eamon McNeil tore the cover off the ball with a perfect day at the plate, Josh Cohen threw a gem in Game 2 and Occidental jumped La Verne for first place in the SCIAC with 8-5, 4-1 wins over the Leopards at Anderson Field. McNeil was an incredible 8-for-8 from the field with two home runs, two doubles, six RBIs and three runs scored on ths day.
With solid pitching and help from Joe Turnbull and Jordyn Finney at the plate, Albion swept a MIAA doubleheader from Alma by scores of 9-6 and 10-5 at Klenk Park. In the opener, Turnbull was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a stolen base and an RBI. Finney led the offense with three RBI. Game two was much of the same from the Britons as Turnbull, Shane Lindemann, Jack Wyman and Riley Stesiak.
Earlham split a pair of one-run games in a doubleheader with Franklin, winning game one 7-6 and losing game two 5-4 to conclude the HCAC series at Randal R. Sadler Stadium. The team that scored the first runs went on to win. in both games, a late run in the teams final possession was the diference in the scores.
University of Dallas claimed a split to begin a three-game, non-conference series at LeTourneau. After winning 6-2 in the scheduled seven-inning opener, Dallas came up short a run in the latter contest 8-7. Dallas ended a four-game losing stretch in head-to-head meetings dating back to 2012. The win at Conrad-Vernon Field was the first for the Crusaders since a 5-0 triumph in seven frames on March 12, 2011.
Keystone pitchers combined to allow just six hits as the Giants swept a CSAC doubleheader at Christy Mathewson Field. Keystone opened the day with a 5-0 victory in game one behind a complete game, three-hit shutout toss by Miguel Reyes. Strong pitching again carried Keystone to victory in the nightcap as Billy Nelson yielded just three hits in five innings. Tyler Widitz and Brendan Long tossed perfect innings in the Giants' 4-1 win.

St. Scholastica had its home opener in a doubleheader matchup vs. UW-Oshkosh, when it put the bat on ball late in each of the two games to earn a 5-4 and a 4-3 victory. Game 1 proved to be a nail-biter, with the Saints giving up two runs in the top of the ninth to tie the score at 4-4. Ultimately the Saints took the 5-4 victory, thanks to a walk-off single from Joey Zwak in the bottom of the 10th inning. The second game required another late inning push from the Saints, who scored early on and then fell behind in the middle innings before managing a three-run eighth to gain the 4-3 lead for the win.
Looking to get things going after a rigorous non-conference schedule, the Concordia-Chicago Cougars began their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference title defense when they welcomed the Marian Sabers to River Forest. The games were originally scheduled to be played at Marian, so CUC batted as the away team in both games. The Cougars began their title defense in grand fashion today, ripping off 25 hits, and scoring 26 runs with 10-1 and 16-4 wins.
Both Arcadia and Hood scored a come-from-behind win as they squared off in a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader. After the Knights captured Game 1, 7-5, the Blazers won the nightcap 5-2. Travis Schweizer went the distance for Hood's win in Game 2. He allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks. Ryan Ulrich was the winning pitcher in relief for Arcadia in the opener, giving way to Chris Keeser for the save.
Brandeis played its first-ever on-campus UAA contests today at Nobby's Field at Case Western Reserve. The Judges dropped a heartbreaker in the opening game, falling 8-7 in 10 innings, before suffering a 10-0 defeat in seven frames in the second game.
Rose-Hulman battled to a tightly contested doubleheader split with Hanover in HCAC action. Hanover won the opener 5-3, before Rose-Hulman captured the nightcap 6-5. The Panthers topped the host Fightin' Engineers in 2-of-3 games on the weekend after winning 5-4 last night. Rose-Hulman senior Zach Trusk also set a new career school record for hit by pitches. Trusk was hit by a pitch in each game to increase his career total to 46.
Texas Lutheran moved into a first-place tie in the SCAC with a pair of one-run wins, 9-8 and 3-2, against Schreiner. TLU survived a wild first game that the Bulldogs appeared to have in hand. TLU led 9-5 entering the ninth to see the lead move to a single run but worled out of a jam for the win. Schreiner rallied for three quick runs and had the tying and winning run on third and second, respectively, with one out. In the late game, Bulldog starter Dylan Drgac tossed a complete game with just enough offense to win. He struck out six, walked one and scattered four hits.
Redlands squared off against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags for a SCIAC doubleheader at the Yard. A late-game push propelled the Bulldogs to a 4-1 victory in the first game, but the Stags rallied back in the high-scoring night cap to hand the home team a 15-18 loss.
Lancaster Bible opened NEAC play with a split of a doubleheader with Penn St. Berks in Reading, Pa. The Chargers took game one, 7-3, before dropping game two, 8-6. Both teams faced late inning efoorts to cange the outcome but neither team could work late inning magic.
A seven-run second inning was all Mary Hardin-Baylor needed as the Cru topped Belhaven 9-4 in Belton. Evan Samoff scattered six hits and struck out six to earn his first collegiate victory for UMHB. Jackson Godoy had three hits for the Cru and Dakota Best, Ty Johnson and Mitch Patterson added two hits apiece.
Ripon opened their conference season by splitting a doubleheader against Lawrence in what was also Ripon's first home games of 2017. The Red Hawks started the day on a high note, winning 6-4, before Lawrence edged them in the nightcap 7-6. Each team had nine hits in game one and 13 in the nightcap.

Capital hosted its first pair of OAC games on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders knocked off the Fightin' Quakers of Wilmington, 7-4 in Game 1, and 5-0 in Game 2. Junior Joseph Borkey earned his second win on the season as he pitched two and two-thirds innings in relief. Joseph Borkey struck out four batters and gave up one hit. Joseph's brother, Brendon Borkey picked up his second career complete game shutout. He also tied a career-high with six strikeouts.
Farmingdale State hosted Purchase in a Skyline Conference doubleheader this afternoon and shutout the Panthers in both games. The Rams earned a 4-0 victory in game one and closed out the sweep with a 9-0 game two win.
St. Joseph's (L.I.) swept the St. Joseph's (Bklyn.) Bears, 9-5, 3-0, in a Skyline Conference doubleheader at Gregg Alfano. Despite a rocky first inning, Brandon Lubrano tossed a complete game allowing 11 hits allowing two earned runs and struck out six batters for a game one win.Receiving the start in game two was Josh Outsen who took a no-hitter to the top of the sixth inning, tossing a complete game shut out allowing two hits and striking out two batters.
Bridgewater (Va.) erased a 4-2 deficit in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with three runs in the seventh inning and held on to defeat Virginia Wesleyan 6-5. The victory allowed the Eagles to salvage an important split as the Marlins won the opener 11-9.
Covenant secured its second straight USA South series win with a doubleheader split with Huntingdon. The Scots lost the opener, 12-6, but rebounded in the second game as Alex Kerr's solo homer in the eighth propelled Covenant to an 11-10 victory. Covenant remains in the hunt for a USA South Tournament berth with the series win. The Scots, a half-game out of eighth place have one final three-game series left in league play before the tournament begins on April 12. The top eight teams in the conference qualify.
Oglethorpe enjoyed an excellent start to their 3-game series with the visiting Centre Colonels, as they swept a doubleheader from their SAA foe. The Stormy Petrels emerged victorious 9-2 in the first game, then blanked Centre 8-0 in the second. The Petrels have now won six straight games and eight of their last nine.
Bethel began MIAC play in thrilling fashion with a pair of wins at Saint John's. The Royals outlasted the Johnnies in a pitchers duel in the opener and then out-hit SJU in the second game to finish 2-0 on the day. In Game 1 it was a first inning run that made the difference, in the second, it was a five run ninth that cinched the sweep.
After falling victim to a walk-off single in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, Concordia (Wis.) responded with a 14-2 rout in game two. Chris Engelbrecht's ninth inning single game Wisconsin Lutheran a 5-4 win in Game 1.
