Fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins defeated Gettysburg in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament, 13-4. The Blue Jays hit three home runs in the fourth inning to a permanent lead over the Bullets. Hopkins will play Saturday against second-seeded Haverford. Haverford walked off, 5-4, when Ursinus mishandled the ball, allowing Sam Partee to score the winning run in the bottom of the tenth inning.
Curry defeated Nichols 3-2 in the opening game of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament at Jack Valley Diamond. The Colonels were led by senior Vincent LoPriore who homered to center in the fourth inning to give Curry a 2-0 lead. Junior Justin Cage and senior Alex McLean added the other two runs for the Colonels – who were outhit in the game 7-4 despite coming out on top. Third seeded Western New England defeated Gordon 11-2 in the other first round game.
Baruch started the CUNYAC Tournament on a winning note with a high-scoring 10-5 victory over the Beavers of CCNY at Kingsborough Community College baseball field in Brooklyn, New York. CCNY started the tournament by defeating associate member Maine-Presque Isle, 2-1, in a play-in contest. That set up the start of the double-elimination tournament and the Bearcats pounded out 14 hits for 10 total runs in the win. In the other two games of the tournament, John Jay eliminated Lehman 4-1 and then upset top seeded Staten Island 6-3.
The long ball helped Johnson & Wales advance in the GNAC Tournament. The Wildcats' first and last runs came from the long ball as they upset top seed St. Joseph's (Maine), 7-3. The Wildcats scored four runs in between Dave Matthews' two-run home run in the first and senior Ryan Cabral first career homer in the seventh. Suffolk was an 15-8 winner over Lasell in the late game.
Junior designated hitter Kyle Lupas delivered a one-out RBI single to centerfield to score Christian Pack from second base as King's clinched a MAC Freedom Conference Tournament berth with a 7-6 victory over visiting Eastern at Lipo Field. With the win King's improved to 19-15 and 12-7 in league play. In the process the Monarchs locked up the third seed in next week's conference tournament. Eastern, meanwhile, slipped to 13-20 and 8-11.
For the second straight season, nationally-ranked St. John Fisher clinched the Empire 8 Regular Season Title after the No. 15 Cardinals won a rain-shortened six-inning affair at Dugan Yard against Utica, 3-0. The Cardinals, who will close out their season with a doubleheader at Ithaca, have earned the right to host the upcoming Empire 8 Championship, which is scheduled to be played May 11-14 at Dugan Yard. This season marks the first time in conference history that the Empire 8 has an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
Junior Ben Dubas crushed a grand slam down the line in right field in the seventh inning carrying top-seeded Alvernia to an 8-4 win over #4 Lebanon Valley in game one of the MAC Commonwealth Championships at PEOPLESBank Stadium. LVC scored all four of its runs in the fifth inning—taking a 4-3 lead at the time. Matt Briner tied the game with an infield single in the seventh a batter before the Dubas slam. Arcadia set up a rematch of last weekend's series with a 7-3 win over third seeded Widener.
Ithaca walked-off with a 9-8 victory over Wells at Freeman Field. It was also the first time that head coach George Valesente coached against his son, David, as he is the head coach for the Wells program. The elder Valesente, who is in his 39th year at Ithaca and 44th overall as a head coach, has won more than 1,100 games in his career and two NCAA Division III national championships. The younger is in his first year as a collegiate head coach after serving as an assistant at his alma mater, St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. David also played two seasons professionally within the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.

Sophomore Jordon Pallazola delivered the game-winning 3-run home run in the eighth inning to propel the visiting sixth seeded Rams of Framingham State to an 8-5 victory over third seed Fitchburg State in first round action of the 2017 MASCAC Championship at Riccards Field. Joining the the Rams in the double-elimination portion of the tournament this weekend is Worcester State. The No. 4 seed Worcester State Lancers scored 13 runs on 15 hits and seven MCLA errors to defeat the No. 5 seed Trailblazers by a score of 13-2. Worchester State will play Westfield State and Framingham State plays host Salem State.
Keystone defeated Immaculata 6-2 to move to within one win of locking up the #1 seed for next week's CSAC playoffs. The Giants need one win in Saturday's doubleheader against the Mighty Macs to secure the top seed in the conference tournament. Both teams have already clinched first round home games to be played Wednesday before the final rounds of the tournament are played at PNC Field in Moosic next weekend. in other CSAC action, Gwynedd Mercy secured its spot in the 2017 Tournament with their 15-6 win over Marywood.
Misericordia opened a three-game series with Manhattanville with an 11-5 win, in Purchase, NY. Brett Davis had four hits and Kenny Jarema and Steve Weisensee added three hits while Jeremy DeCotiis had two hits and drove in four runs. Tim Burek scattered eight hits over seven innings, including six straight shutout innings, to earn the win.
Sophomore right-hander Dalton Rice struck out 11 and sophomore Zach Quintal drove in three runs with a double and a home run to lead Southern Maine to a 9-1 victory over the visiting Mass-Dartmouth in the first game of the teams Little East Conference doubleheader at Ed Flaherty Field. The victory clinched the LEC regular-season title for the Huskies, and they will host the 2017 championship tournament that starts next Wednesday. USM has won or shared the LEC regular-season title 12 times in the 21 seasons of LEC baseball. In the nightcap, the Corsairs scored a run in the eighth inning on rookie Mike Knell's double that snapped a 3-3 tie and held on for a 4-3 victory. The split left the Huskies with a final regular-season record of 28-9 overall and 12-2 in LEC play. The Corsairs completed the season 22-18 and 9-5 in conference play. UMD will be the third seed in the upcoming tournament. UMass-Boston swept Western Connecticut 4-0, 12-4 to secure the second seed in the LEC postseason tournament.
Senior Nick DiBenedetto went 2-for-3 with three RBI, and first-year RHP Alex Shafer pitched seven shutout innings to lead Trinity (Conn.) to an 8-0 victory over the visiting Union Dutchmen at Murren Family Field in DiBenedetto Stadium. Trinity wins for the seventh time in its last eight games to reach the 20-win mark for the first time since 2013, improving to 20-14 with just a doubleheader against Wesleyan on Saturday left on the schedule. The Bantams have shut out four opponents in their last seven games. Union drops to 18-12.
