afternoon as the Bombers downed Virginia Wesleyan, 8-2.

No. 18 Coe bounced back on Sunday morning with a 3-1 victory over No. 2 Webster in its final game of the Rhodes College Invite. The Kohawks racked up 12 hits in the game while holding Webster to just nine hits and one run. The win is Coe's first of the 2020 campaign, improving its record to 1-2 while Webster, which reached the College World Series last year, drops to 1-2. The Kohawks had a strong offensive showing, after two games of struggles, recording 12 hits over nine innings. Riley LeGrand, Jordan Kaplan and Daniel Berger recorded RBIs for the Kohawks while Luke Smailes was 3-of-4 at the dish. Coe starting pitcher Jack Greene went 6 innings, scattering seven hits while allowing just one run and striking out five.

Dominican earned their first win of the year while giving Sewanee their first loss in a 4-2 triumph. Tyler Trojan posted four RBI, while Frankie Sessa posted a two-hit day for the Stars. On Saturday, Sewanee swept a doubleheader from Dominican winning 3-2 and 6-3 on Montgomery Field.

With the game tied 5-5 against Scranton, Junior Brent Shimoda doubled in the top of the ninth to bring in freshman Alex Warren for the eventual game-winning run. Shimoda then scored off an Evan Trausch sacrifice fly to help Vassar to a 7-5 victory over the Royals on Sunday afternoon. The game served as the season-opener for both teams, and Vassar moves to 1-0, while Scranton goes to 0-1.

The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays scored early and often, picking up their first victory of the season, a 13-4 defeat of Arcadia. Eleven Blue Jays registered a hit in the contest, with four players picking up their first hits of the season. Freshman Matthew Chang and sophomore John Griffin earned their first career hits. Kieren Collins had a fantastic debut out of the bullpen, throwing three scoreless innings, striking out four.

Blackburn sophomore Righthander Tyler Jackson pitched a complete game to lead the Beavers to a 2-1 non-conference victory in Carbondale.  Jackson struck out seven without a walk and was the beneficiary of a Blackburn defense that turned four double plays and did not commit an error.  Blackburn picked up the first victory of the season and opened the weekend going 1-2.

Swarthmore opened the 2020 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Misiericordia. Pitching led the way for both clubs as the Garnet and Cougars combined for only ten hits. Ryan Warm, Zach Camp, Sawyer Lake, and Jack Corkery combined for the shutout. Lake was credited with the win after 2.2 innings of work on the mound allowing no hits and striking out three.

Muhlenberg broke out for 23 runs and 27 hits on the second day of the Bison Baseball Classic, splitting a pair of games to return home from its opening weekend with a 2-1 record. The Mules opened the day with a 9-8 loss to Stevenson in an exciting game that saw the lead change hands twice in the last three half-innings. In the nightcap, they scored multiple runs in five innings to defeat Gallaudet, 15-4. New sources of offense sparked Muhlenberg. Sophomore Ryan Hebert, who missed all of last season with an injury, went 4-for-7 with a double and two triples. Sophomore Evan Spano, who only pitched last year, had three hits, including a double and a triple, and scored four runs in the Gallaudet game.

Earlham split its doubleheader with Case Western Reserve to take the season-opening series from the Spartans. The Quakers won Sunday's first game at Sadler Stadium by a 5-4 score, before dropping the final game by a 7-4 score. Reliever Aidan Talarek got the opeing day win off his three-inning appearance, allowing just one run and fanning two Spartan batters. Senior Jordan Christian picked up his first save of the season. Spartan starter Benjamin Gorski fanned eight Earlham batters over six innings on his way to the win in game two.

Catholic senior Cid Porter had career-high four hits and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth as the Cardinals rallied for a 5-4 win over Montclair State at Talbot Field. Catholic (2-2) scored the game's final four runs over the final four innings to post its eighth in the last 10 at home. Porter, who went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, posted the second four-hit game of his career. He also went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored in a 9-4 win over Penn State Berks on March 5, 2018. With the Cardinals trailing 4-3, senior Connor Sullivan led off the bottom of the eighth with a double to center before scoring the tying run on the very next pitch when Porter singled to right. Porter then came around to score the winning run with two outs when he scored on a wild pitch three batters later.

took the first two games on Saturday 16-9, 18-5.

Methodist played to a draw on the final day of the Armstrong Invitational, losing to Penn State Abington, 7-4, in the first game, but defeating Lynchburg, 5-4, in the nightcap. Both games featured late game heroics and heartbreak, depending on one's rooting interest. Against PSU-Abington, Methodist surrendered four runs in the top of the ninth, but Game 2 the Monarchs redeemed themselves by scoring two runs in the eighth to recover the lead and earn the victory against Lynchburg. Jacob Austin played the role of "hero" in the win after doubling to score Matthias Carter for the game-tying run and then scoring the go-ahead run after a Hornets' fielding error. Errors by Lynchburg (four in total) allowed the Monarchs to claw their way back into the game despite registering just four hits. PSU-Abington defeated Manhattanville 7-6 in the first game of the day in 10 innings.

Bridgewater (Va.) finished the weekend with a 4-0 record after Sunday's doubleheader sweep of DeSales , the Eagles' second sweep in as many days. The Eagles topped the Bulldogs 8-5 and won the second game, 7-4. Bridgewater rallied from big deficits in each game to take a victory. In the first game, the Eagles scored two runs in the fifth inning and six runs in the sixth to erase a 5-0 DeSales lead. In the second game, DeSales scored four runs in the top of the first inning, but the Eagles' pitching staff put zeroes on the scoreboard the rest of the way as the home team fought back for the 7-4 victory. Bridgewater is now 6-1 to start the 2020 season.

Piedmont claimed a series sweep over Brevard with an 11-5 win against the Tornados. The Lions took a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning and continued the offensive prowess shown through the series scoring 11 or more in all three contests against Brevard. Three Lions had multi-hit performances led by Tyler Sheley's 3-for-3 day.

In walk-off fashion, George Fox beat the Pacific Lutheran Lutes, 5-4, sweeping its opening Northwest Conference series. Leon Johnson III had two hits and two runs in his five at-bats.  Matt Voelzke supported his cause with two RBI, including the game-winner.  Brandon King had three hits on the day in his four at bats, one home run short of the cycle. Sean Wiese tallied his first collegiate win (1-0) after striking out the side in the ninth.

No. 3 Trinity (Texas) completed a three-game weekend sweep of Endicott with a 13-11 victory. Mason Meredith went 3-4 with three runs and four RBI in the game, hitting one of three triples by Trinity. Jack Vonderhaar also had three hits to go with two runs and two RBI, collecting a triple of his own. Michael Montrezza was the third Trinity player to get three hits in the game, as the Tiger team finished with a total of 15 hits on the day.

LaGrange staged back-to-back rallies to sweep N.C. Wesleyan at Cleaveland Field in Williamson Stadium. The Panthers (5-4, 3-0 USA South) won a wild Game 1 11-10 in 10 innings, then came from behind again in Game 2 for a 6-4 win. The sweep also completed a weekend sweep of the Bishops (2-7, 0-3 USA South).  The Panthers were within a strike of winning the opener but a two-out passed ball brought in the tying run. After the Bishops score in the tenth, LaGrange sored twice for the win. Four eighth inning runs was the difference in the nightcap.

Nebraska Wesleyan hit three home runs scoring six runs in the first three innings and went on to earn a 6-5 victory over Fontbonne in game one of a doubleheader in Imperial, Mo. Fontbonne came back to win the second game 7-6 to split the series. Game one was predetermined as a 7-inning contest, while game two was a regular 9-inning game.

Oswego State bounced back from Saturday's loss to No. 5 Heidelberg with a pair of wins over 2019 NCAA Championship participants Baldwin Wallace and La Roche. Junior Ryan Enos and senior Lukas Olsson each had four hits on the day to pace the Laker offense. In the opener against Baldwin Wallace, Oswego used a key five-run sixth inning to put the game away. Oswego used two crooked innings to win the nightcap. Four runs in the first, and three in the seventh to break a 4-4 tie was all the lakers needed for their second win of the season.

A pair of seventh-inning triples catapulted North Central College to a 10-6 victory over the UW-Stout inside DuPage Medical Group Field, as the Cardinals finish the opening weekend a perfect 3-0. With the score knotted 2-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinal bats finally came alive as Eric Outlaw singled to lead off the frame. Dom Listi followed two batters later with a triple off the right-center field fence, missing his first collegiate homerun by a mere foot to plate the go-ahead run.

The No. 4-ranked Birmingham-Southern Panthers earned the series sweep of North Park, beating the Vikings 9-1 in game three. The Panthers limited the North Park offense and strung together five straight scoring innings in the game to down the Vikings and improve to 7-1 on the season. Junior right-hander Tristan Harvin got the start on the mound for BSC and pitched five shutout innings, striking out seven batters and awarding no walks. His performance earned him the win, his first of the season. Harvin was relieved by a committee of Panthers who each tossed an inning to close out the game.

Drew Ryback threw five scoreless innings as #24 Rowan opened the 2020 season with a 1-0 win over Stevens (2-2), in a game played at Mercer County Community College. Jeremy Dyzenhaus and Dan Corvo each pitched two innings and kept Stevens off the board, with Corvo striking out three and recording the save. Ryback gave up five hits but had three strikeouts to pick up the victory. Senior second baseman Alex Kokos went 1-for-3 in the contest while Trip McCaffrey was 1-for-2 at the plate in his Rowan debut. The Profs got their lone run in the fourth when McCaffrey walked, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jared Marks, moved to third on a passed ball and eventually scored on a wild pitch by Stevens' starter Chandler Brierley

Graduate student Kevin Stewart tossed a tidy seven innings of shutout ball with seven strikeouts as No. 11 Kean topped FDU-Florham by the final of 8-3. Stewart (2-0) allowed just three singles and no walks while facing just two batters above the minimum. The Cougars (4-2) got all the runs they would need in their first at-bat plating seven runs in the first.

Aurora finished the season opening series at the Derby Classic hosted by Spalding University against Ohio Northern University. The Spartans remained unbeaten with a 5-4 victory. In the bottom of the ninth, Ohio Northern got a one out double and home run but the final two hitters struck out, ending the comeback bid.

Ereka is coming home from Jackson, Mississippi, with a 2-1 record after concluding the Millsaps Invitational with a 5-2 win over Edgewood. Braxten Ary went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a double and a run scored, while Kyle Christman and Austin Davis both went 2-for-4. Christman drove in two runs, drew a walk and scored a run. Davis doubled and scored a run. Sophomore Brock Pettit picked up the win in his first start of the year after only allowing one run on four and zero walks and striking out six in six innings of work.
